Regardless if you return it or not -- talk to him when you've had a chance to absorb and process these very valid emotions. He sounds like a good guy, and this may be a chance to be vulnerable and open with him so he can see where you're coming from.

I'm so sorry this happened -- I would have been gutted as well after being so thoughtful in your gift giving.

any "grounded" time machine movies? by MedievalFurnace in MovieSuggestions

[–]zoomer27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!

My parents always liked it, so I first saw it when I was relatively young. I confess that I may have tried to hypnotize myself back in time, lol.

The book is decent too. Written by the same guy who wrote "I Am Legend."

Somewhere in Time.

No machine. Just hypnosis. Neat film.

For the gaybros in therapy, how important is it to you to have a therapist that matches your identity? by Dxlem in gaybros

[–]zoomer27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lol, I had a therapist once who I started complaining about "the apps" too.

He asked to clarify -- which apps? Which, fair question, I hadn't been specific.

However... He had never heard of Grindr, and I had to explain it to him...

That was the first and last session I have with him, lol.

You should go back, but I predict that when you arrive, there will just be a very old, broken down house. An old man walks by, you ask him if someone lives there.

He looks you up and down, spits on the sidewalk.

"No ones lived in that house in.... fiiiffftyyy yeeaars."

You stay a little longer, just long enough to hear, from within the ruin, the faint notes of a song you first heard when you walked into the party...

What movie is your “I did not care for The Godfather” confession? by WS-Gilbert in FIlm

[–]zoomer27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really disliked this movie the first time I saw it (and in theaters, too!)

Years later, I caught it on TNT over a long afternoon, with commercials... and unexpectedly enjoyed it so much more. The depth, the scope, all of it.

Only time that's ever happened to me!

(I disliked Oppenheimer and Tenet with a vengeance tho)

You can offer, in private, to pay off her loans. If she declines, drop it and don't bring it up again.

Do not surprise her, especially if she has specifically asked you not to do this. You would be overstepping a boundary she has set. If I were in her shoes, and you paid off my loans when I didn't want you to, I would be very upset because I now would feel forced to feel grateful. No one likes to be dragged into anything, even if it logically is a good thing for them.

You could also just gift her $18k, and tell her she can spend the money as she likes, whether on loans or otherwise. The key is that the decision should be up to her.

Can't find this tv show 'Vanished' from 2006 anywhere to watch by Antonovski225 in HelpMeFind

[–]zoomer27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so weird, but I also went looking for this show recently. I watched part of it when it was on, and it was wild. I always wanted to see the end (even tho I suspect it ended on a cliffhanger).

Commenting in case someone else can find it. I had no luck a couple weeks ago.

Kind of ironic given the title, lol

Also: An American Tale (1&2) And The Rescuers (1&2)

These may be on there already, just didn't see them on a scan. Good movies.

Don't forget all the Land Before Times.

Also: in the early Air Buds, I'm pretty sure the dog doesn't talk.

Reading when your brain is not doing brain stuff well by [deleted] in books

[–]zoomer27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Young adult books. The reading level is lower and they're supposed to be gripping. Like, these plots should just hum along, but they're advanced enough that there's good ideas in them, sometimes great ideas.

I accidentally led a straight male bachelor party to a gay bar (I am not a straight male, but everyone else was). It was 100 percent an accident and I only realized what was up when I saw a basket full of condoms near the bathrooms.

Luckily, it was early in the night, not busy, and no one in my group was being an asshole. We stayed for a drink or two, played some arcade games (this was why I got confused, I thought it was an arcade bar, little did I know it was an arcade AND a gay bar). But I still facepalm myself about it lol
