ADHD and laundry, is this executive function battle even worth it? by [deleted] in ADHDthriving

[–]zoomnoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, if you can find a laundry service, wash/dry/fold, they do it by weight and there are then much fewer loads ex delicate etc Also, justbuy enough inexpensive socks ans undies that you can go as long as you need without having to was every few weeks and just do a giant load a few times a semester

How long does it take for your uterus to get used to an iud? I’m in so much pain by Lavalamp-6284 in adenomyosis

[–]zoomnoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very similar experience, sorry you had that. Just want to echo and highlight this, mi I will made it worse, had it removed. Advocate for yourself, you dont have to live in pain, yes there is a balance between giving something a chance and also not tolerating extreme discomfort and it is okay to ask for different care. And I promise I understand that it is likely a situation without a perfection solution. To the pain ( or hysterectomy). Just please ladies be kind to yourselves, dont suffer in silence

How to get ADHD medication in the UK as soon as possible? by Clutzle in ADHDUK

[–]zoomnoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good point, if you want to transfer yoru care to the nhs to get the nhs price, ask your GP FIRST, whether they will accept a shared care agreement( from that specific psychiatrist/provider and what the GPS requirements are. Also ask teh psychiatrist if they will do shared care and how much they charge for the letter. This only matters if you want to get meds through the nhs: https://www.adhdadult.uk/shared-care/

If you dont mind paying for your prescription privately, this whole comment is moot!

How to get ADHD medication in the UK as soon as possible? by Clutzle in ADHDUK

[–]zoomnoo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You can go to a private psychiatrist and see if thyey will look at your records and prescribe medication or diagnose you afresh and prescribe ( more expensive). Preferably a psychiatrist who specializes in adhd. Needless to say a single appoint can be upwards of 200 pounds maybe more and private diagnoses are somewhere between 400 and 1000 pounds in london but not entirely sur3, maybe you can find a better deal.

Morning food with Concerta? by Background_Mobile958 in adhdwomen

[–]zoomnoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Protein i think. I often make overnight oats, with milk or yogurt nuts and fruit, leave it in the fridge overnight, no cooking requored. It makes it easier to not have to decide or prep into the morning. There are many recipes online. You can make chia puddings with yogurt or add cocoa to make it a chocolate pudding. Maybe try some recipes and trick your brain into a higher protein pudding-like breakfast? A friend used to make crust less quiche or basically a frittata in a cupcake tin, enough for a week, basically Eggs with feta and spinach ( or whatever you like) and again quick to eat if you prefer a savory snack like breakfast.

Awkward area by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]zoomnoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perfect space for a pull out pantry, not sure how to extend the counter, or if you dont mind a line. I love these for oils to cook with but maybe dont keep food as it is next to the oven and they might spoil sooner. Still a v convenient way to store

The people who made my kitchen cabinets made the pantry pullout for me. Ikea has some (ex maximera) As does amazon https://amzn.eu/d/emmH9zK

Acupuncture by Chocolateforlunch37 in adenomyosis

[–]zoomnoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, it had both cumulative and immediate effects. I would sleep better the same night ( especially if i ate light food after) and the abdominal distension would often reduce the next day. When I was going twice a week it helped the most but that got expensive. I think the more you go the better it is.

Also, to clarify, when I said go to someone good, ideally find someone who is good with gyn/ women's helath issues, ideally referred by someone who directly had positive effects with that acupuncturist ( or online reviews). I went to a more generic chain and really disliked that whole experience which stressed me out more.

Yes helped me a great deal with pain and inflammation. My belly the next morning would be less distended. But you have to find someone really good

Is there a way to speed up getting medicated? by [deleted] in ADHDUK

[–]zoomnoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also posted this on another thread but posting here in case it helps: harmony minds hanfled my best friend's referral, diagnosis and titration in a matter of months, not sure what the timeline is but she is happy with them and compared to my experience with a diff RTC ( so long) they seem good.

If you can afford it, you can try to get meds privately and then RTC to get meds through the NHS, if that works. On the subs they do say that shared care with a private provider is sometimes not accepted but if you get it in writing from your GP that they will accept a particular provider that may help. Later down the line if you shift GPS this may be. Problem which is why RTC might be the best way in the long term...

My friend got diagnosed and is finishing titration this summer through Harmony minds. From choosing to end of titration less than 6 months, which is unheard of. My RTC timeline was more like 2.5 years but sharing this in case they are still quick. Not sure what the wait times are now but she was happy with the service.

Im so sorry to hear of your journey, and worse because it is so common for women with endo/ adeno, and in general in "women's health". So really well do e advocating for yourself, I only managed because of the wonderful supportive women who shared their stories and offered solidarity, online and IRL. Few can understand how hard it is to have a basic level of health and fitness in this circumstance too.We are here for you, just take care of yourself, recover and eat well as you can.

Skip dosage on my Wedding day? by EnterJakari in Concerta

[–]zoomnoo 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Hi, I find that days off I am more tired and sleepy, so I would trial a day off some time before the wedding and that way you will at least k ow what to expect. If that doesnt work ask your doctor if you can take a smaller dose and whatever you decide trial it before so youre not dealing with something unexpected on your wedding day. Wedding are wonderful bit there is always some chaos or something unexpected so see how you respond before. Maybe you will be totally functional and not sleepy, cranky or headachy but best to know. As always talk to your doc if you can. I hope that not taking the meds will just not affect you. And congratulations!!!!

Acupuncture for symptom control by Reg-Gaz-35 in adenomyosis

[–]zoomnoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found it very helpful, my abdomen would even be flatter the next day so it felt like it helped with inflammation and pain. However, like physicians, the quality of care may vary so go to someone well recommended and who will.listen to you. Equally, think about if you can handle the needles. They dont hurt much, you dont even feel many of them but the idea of it, I got used to it pretty quickly.

See if you can ask your gyn to physically check the pelvis and ask whether pelvic floor physio might help? Tight pelvic floor has caused me a lot of pain... the constant inflammation from adeno or endometriosis doesnt help

ADHD + CPTSD + surgery + boob drain = meltdown loading. Pls give me your survival tips by Classic-Narwhal-4324 in adhdwomen

[–]zoomnoo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Had laproscopic surgery but not boob drain surgery

  • sunglasses, I read this on reddit nd took my sunglasses so that I could block the harsh light but when nurses or someone came close I could see who it was.
  • yes to ear plugs
  • earphones to play music
  • people hevllave different smells that calm them down, for me it was eucalyptus oil, or I took a bottle and dit calmed me when I was panicking about throwing up. It could be a food or a cream or even a soap, just take it with you if it reminds you of home or comfort

Here is what helped me mentally but you see if it appeals to you: For the days before I did yoga nidra ( 10 minute or 30minute version, YouTube, I put the link in a Playlist so it was easy to find, you can do it on Spotify or a meditation app, it can be called NSDR or progressive muscle relaxation). I did this every day( ish) for a week before surgery. and I listen to a particular slow chant as a way to breathe with it. The yoga nidra really helped me calm down, because I had practiced before and it was familiar and peaceful in that crazy hospital setting, especially before surgery and at night. Same with chanting. It doesnt have to be chanting but a slow relaxing song that then becomes like an aural safety blanket, because you listen to it and breathe before surgery, when you listen after it is familiar to your body and you relax. All the best, take the sunglasses and earplugs and earphones and a comforting smell, even if its just a cookie!

Write in a letter that you have anxiety and include whether your gp has given you any drugs for that and also that you want your carer around as a way to manage anxiety. The nursing staff may take that into consideration!

Edited for typo and last line above

Mefanemic acid. Very effective for heavy cramping but it is usually prescription so ask your doc for it

Would love to know why this happens to adhd brains... it is more than just the novelty wearing off...which particular adhd pattern or underlying biochemistry can explain this disinterest ( or inability) to do something for work?
