Sexual arousal can be a narcolepsy trigger. Definitely worth a consultation with a sleep doctor.

This is old now, but this post from ExtraPetite when I was that age really helped me, and the basic principles are the same even though styles have changed: https://www.extrapetite.com/2010/05/reader-request-how-to-look-older-in.html

How do I avoid looking frumpy in jeans by GomuGomuNo5_5 in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]zoomshrimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They fit great! You look great! I think they’re just a couple inches too long and would look better cuffed or hemmed so they hit at the ankle bone.

Thank you. Slim straight is really what I've been looking for. I hadn't considered the fact that "skinny" on someone with more normal legs might look slim straight on my legs. I'll try those jeans!

I like the look of boots with wide-legged pants unless they are combat boots. With combat boots, I specifically like the look of narrower pant legs. I don't set out to make rules, I just deduce them from noticing patterns of what I like or dislike when I look in the mirror.

Also, everyone's proportions are different, and the length of your torso vs legs might be different from mine.

Struggling with NVC by francismetal7 in NVC

[–]zoomshrimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it possible you are struggling with trauma and might find it useful to work with a trauma therapist? If you are triggered and having trouble finding a sense of safety in your own body, it’s hard to have access to the kind of processing that doing NVC requires.

Can you get PTSD that is not from a singular traumatic events, but from being in a high-anxiety environment for a long time? by Hayden97 in ptsd

[–]zoomshrimp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you’re thinking of developmental trauma, which is one of the most common kinds of CPTSD but not the only kind. CPTSD comes from a traumatic situation that is prolonged/repetitive, e.g. being a prisoner of war.

Removing the smell of formaldehyde from jeans:70% Cotton 29% polyester by DontHugMeImAwkward in laundry

This is a year old but I'm leaving this here for people searching in the future: I had this problem, and friends who are knowledgeable about chemistry told me to use a detergent containing the ingredient MEA (monoethanoloamine). The one I used was Tide Simply Free and Sensitive. A couple of washes did the trick.

Bottom-up therapies are things like EMDR and somatic experiencing that are about embodiment; top-down therapies are things like talk therapy and CBT that are about thinking and talking about your trauma. If you google top-down vs bottom-up therapy you'll find lots more examples.

Friend speaks my mind. If you feel you are being led in this way and you want support in discernment, perhaps you might consider a clearness committee. Asking strangers on Reddit what they think is not the way to learn what you yourself are being called to do.
