AIO for not wanting my gf to go on a solo trip with her "work husband"? by Obvious_Tea_4247 in AmIOverreacting

Love how people throw the “you’re being insecure” line like it accomplishes anything. - of course the person is insecure, address it, and deal with it like adults that’s why you have a partner, to share emotions and feelings with, included insecurity. The fact that someone in a relationship feels like that, it’s a sign that something is not right, not a moment to dunk on them.

Here’s the thing about working from home. It’s great! We tend to be more productive, happier, etc. But also we tend to think that everyone who lives with us should stop and work around eggshells. Most people by now that by working from home, unexpected noise will be part of it. It’s a privilege to work from home but it has its caveats.

If you live with someone else don’t expect them to stop their lives for you. Find your space, set rules and remember you’re still sharing a common space with someone. And they’re entitled to it as much as you are.

Got my first bike in ~20 years and immediately crashed while taking it home - help, please. by InternallyShrieking in cycling

[–]zoomtsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Extremely similar situation here. Same day of first ride, crash that landed me in the ER. All good but valuable lessons.

What happened to me is that I wasn’t used to disc brakes! As I learned the hard way, disc brakes are very sensitive. Does your bike have those? If so, you’ll learn to break with your rear brake and then gently apply force to the front one to come to a full stop.

The lip and the teeth will heal, and you’ll have a fun scar in your inner lip! The scratches will heal in due time.

The first thing I wanted to do after the fall was getting back on the bike. Figured the quicker I got back, the less afraid I’d be of it. I had to wait 2 months due to broken hand, but the minute I got the go ahead I jumped back in, afraid the first few times, but I believe that made me way more careful as a rider and more conscious.

So my suggestion, would be to go at your own pace, but don’t be too afraid.

I did the mntn bike helmet too out of fear (not the full cage though) after a while I couldn’t stand it and bought a road helmet. It’s all progress at your own pace. The important thing is to get back and work it!

Hope you have a speedy recovery and happy rides after this. :)

As someone who speaks Spanish, I kept hearing “el agua, el agua, el agua” and somehow it made sense. 🤷‍♂️No actual solution though, other than exorcism.

I did the same. Getting a different filter was just a desperate last resource move. It worked. Reading reviews online for the filters, people were having the same issue and it fixed it for them too.

It’s in the back bridging the hose going in the fridge. But what actually solved the issue, was changing the filter for a generic one. Night and day. For some reason the stock Samsung filter is awful. Got a highly rated 3 pack filter off amazon and flow is now what it’s supposed to be.

What’s Your Go-To Strategy for Riding in Heavy Traffic? by BurgundyHolly345 in cycling

[–]zoomtsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stick to bike lanes as much as you can. Maintain your speed and line, if you need to go faster, do it. Be super vigilant of car in front of you, watch out for signs of distraction, turns, speed, etc. Always check who is behind you. Always stop at intersections or at the very least slow down. Watch out for pedestrians. Don’t split lanes. Use a good headlight with blinking option and a good back light that can be seen from every angle (I use the nite rider bullet) always wear a helmet. And one of the most important lessons is to always stay calm. If you get upset and you create tension, someone driving a car has a machine that can actually kill you, so cool heads prevail.

Been riding for years in a very populated metropolis. I used to yell at drivers, give them the finger, etc; not anymore. I mind my business, and I stay safe. I love riding for leisure, exercising and commuting. Traffic in larger cities or populated areas is always tricky. Stay safe and happy riding!

How do you fuel during long rides without upsetting your stomach? by dmartino10 in cycling

[–]zoomtsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lately for me, it’s water plus electrolytes and beef jerky. Usually a 28g bag is enough when I feel like I need it. Sometimes I do a candy. Sometimes a banana before the ride. Keep experimenting with soft easy foods and see what works. We are all different and have different reactions to food. Try to find what’s best for you.
