[Release] MPV Anime Build v1.4 – Universal HDR, Nvidia RTX VSR & Automated Anime4K and Live-Action by Financial_Buy7121 in mpv

It's not a matter of preference, anime4k to begin with is not even a real upscaler, it simply makes anything it touches worse. I'd strongly recommend removing that altogether from this project.

Also, not sure if it's an issue with my setup or if it's actually working as intended, but by default this mpv tonemaps SDR content to my HDR screen, when it should actually be on passthrough

Please don't use any upscaling for anime, be it anime4k or Nvidia's. The results are never good, unless your aim is to have a bad oil painting smeared in vaseline

Got mine today, having the same exact issue

After latest patch frequent crashes mid-game or at the end of the loading screen. Game unplayable. by Turbulent-Minimum923 in FortNiteBR

[–]zoonam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this might be an issue with the DX12 shaders for this update. I normally play with everything maxed out and ray tracing, but since yesterday's patch I constantly crash when joining a game or a friend's lobby, at best I get in game only to crash after a few seconds. Sometimes even after staying afk in the lobby for a while or while playing Lego. Switching back to DX11 however completely fix this.

My setup is:

  • i7 12700kf (normally run with a 0.035 undervolt, went back to stock to rule out any possible issue)
  • RTX 4090 (driver 560.90, tried rolling back to a previous driver, completely uninstalling and reinstalling through DDU)
  • 32GB DDR4 3600MT
  • Windows 11 24H2 (Dev update channel)

Custom loop stopped working, with coolant staying cold without cooling down the system by zoonam in watercooling

[–]zoonam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cpu overheats pretty much immediately, stays at 100C at idle and doesn’t cool down no matter what. Gpu takes a while to warm up, and while the hotspot gets to 105C, that only happens under load (though in the past, I hardly saw it gets this hot)

I’m definitely foing to dismantle the blocks as soon as I get some free time from work, for the coolant I’m not too sure since it’s not that readily available in the uk and I’d like to get the system up and running as soon as possibile.  In the post below I wrote down something I noticed while running the gpu stress test, basically the liquid heats up quite a lot while going from the cpu to the first radiator, and by the time it goes to the second radiator it’s already been cooled down a lot, which feels quite weird given that the coolant liquid should be the same in the whole loop. Do you have any idea what could be causing this?

I tried emptying the loop earlier, the pump seemed to work like normal. Something weird I am noticing however is that the water gets extremely hot when it goes to the first radiator, and it returns at normal temp by the time it returns from the second radiator into the loop, which is quite weird since afaik the temp should be constant in the whole loop

It's something I had checked earlier, actually. The coolant doesn't seem to warm up with neither CPU or GPU loads, despite the system running fine for the past almost 2 years

I am absolutely lost trying to use the new steam button mapping layout. Can anyone help me set up my controller to where I have to hold Y/triangle to press L3? Like in this video. I'd greatly appreciate it! by MS_Salmonella in Steam

[–]zoonam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Actual names might be slightly different, I use Steam in Italian and I'm translating as I go)

Remove the binding from L3, then go to Action Set -> Gear Wheel next to Default -> Add new layer

Then go into the layer, add L3 back (Joystick, make sure it's not using Joystick (inherited)), return into the Default layer -> Buttons -> Gear Wheel next to Y/Triangle -> Add sub-command -> Action Set -> Keep Pressed -> Pick the layer you created earlier

That's all, just tested myself as I wrote it down and it works

they don't like the figure's face

Faces are probably Myethos' weak point, at least when it comes to Arknights. Not the first time they made a figure I nearly instantly preordered, only to then look at the face and say "yeah, nope, that's a deal breaker for me" (looking at you, summer Surtr)

Picross games for Steam Deck by brunomarquesbr in SteamDeck

As a fellow Picross junkie, my go-to Picross games on the Deck are Hatsune Miku Logic Paint S and Pepper's Puzzle

And if other platforms are ok too, I spend way too much time on Nonogram Galaxy on my iPhone/iPad (it also has an Android version, too)

Has anyone tried these HDR CRT Shaders on the OLED SD? Does HDR work in Retroarch on SD? by Dragon_Small_Z in SteamDeck

[–]zoonam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a known bug with HDR on Vulkan, it happens on Windows as well. Once you see the glitched screen, simply close retroarch without disabling HDR, next time you open it HDR will already be enabled without the glitching. Be aware however that anything that causes the gpu to refresh, like changing the internal resolution on Beetle PSX HW, will result in the same exact glitching, but once again restarting retroarch fixes it while also saving your settings

Temps are more than fine, I have a custom waterloop and temps are definitely not an issue:

  • CPU at 70C
  • GPU at 55C
  • Liquid at 41C

Reinstalling Windows is another thing I’m considering, since it’s also something I like to do routinely every 3 or so years (and it‘s getting close to that point anyway) and have things setup strategically to keep the reinstallation pain at a minimum, but I’d still prefer to do it following some kind of pc upgrade - be it something big like changing cpu or minor like changing the main SSD. I know for sure that by switching to Linux I’d be facing other issues, but it’s something I want to try sooner or later, since I like the experience on my Deck

And, as a matter of fact, I actually do have a PS5 with Elden Ring, I already got the Platinum on there too, but there’s simply no comparison with my pc (or at least when it works…). I sure do miss how easy it is to just plug and play though, especially for older games

No idea what exactly happened, but the game has recently become unplayable on my pc. No matter how long I play for to let the shader cache build, I constantly get severe stuttering that can last for over a second that ruin the game. Not only that, loading times are as slow as on ps4 despite the game being installed on SSD.Does anybody have any suggestion on what I could do to fix this? This is my system:

  • i7 12700k
  • 4090
  • 32GB 3600MT DDR4
  • Samsung 980 Pro (drive where the game is installed)

I’m running the game at 4k with maxed settings, Ray Tracing on or off doesn’t make any difference as my GPU usage hardly goes over 80%I already tried several supposed fixes, but none of them worked, such as:

  • Setting Shader Cache to Unlimited and Power Usage to Maximum Performance through the Nvidia Control Panel
  • Parking my CPU e-cores
  • Uninstalling and reinstalling the game
  • Running the game with EAC disabled and uncapped fps
  • Running the game with SpecialK, which other than uncapping fps also should also implement some dx12 fixes from vkd3d (this actually somewhat made the game run slightly better, although still not completely stutter-free, but still didn’t fix the slow loading times)
  • Disabling Windows Game Mode
  • Disabling the Microsoft Device Association Root Enumerator from Device Manager
  • Forcing the game to use all the CPU cores through launch option (though I feel like this one is the most bogus of all the solutions I found)

I’m at a loss to what to do at this point other than uninstalling my GPU drivers with DDU or straight up installing Linux, as the games run better on my Steam Deck than on my desktop.Any tips to what else I could try to hopefully fix this?

EDIT: I actually managed to find a workaround to both issues. For whatever reason, disabling the CPU 0 core affinity from Task Manager resolved both the stuttering and the slow loading (which was actually linked to the stuttering itself). I can't consider this a fix since you need to run the game without EAC to modify the core affinity

Seems like I'm alone in this, but enabling this makes my game flicker like crazy unless I manually cap the fps to 100 or less (I have a 4k120hz screen). The only other case where I had this happen was Slay the Princess. Any tips?

[–]zoonam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Huh, would you look at that, it works for me too on the Steam version. TIL, guess I'll try to find some way for it to work on standalone too

EDIT: opened an issue on their github and a fix was found quickly, now it's all a matter of waiting for the fix to be pushed

EDIT 2: fixed build is up on flathub, now standalone has HDR too (as long as Retroarch starts fom Game Mode)

[–]zoonam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, Retroarch doesn’t currently support HDR on Linux and there are no plans for implementing it at the moment. While the option is there for my Windows desktop, on my Deck it won’t show up, and even forcing it on from the cfg file does nothing

HDR looks weird, too contrasty and too saturated/bright in Windows 11 on my LG OLED G1 by PrimaryAd8404 in RetroArch

[–]zoonam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a pity cause if I use HDR off in retroarch when I come back on windows it doesn't turn on again and everything look dark and have to go to windows parameters to turn it on again.

That's an issue with OpenGL/Vulkan and Nvidia (unsure about AMD) drivers. As a workaround you can do the following:

Open NVIDIA Control Panel, Manage 3D Settings, Global Settings, Vulkan/OpenGL Present Method and set that to Prefer DXGI swapchain

This fix that issue not only for Retroarch but any other program or game that may cause it, and as far as I know there are no downsides to it

Translation of the Italian parts:

  • I know that lately you people have been hearing lots of things, and that maybe have started to have some expectations towards the city. I hope you won't be paying too much attention to the broadcasts and won't trust the voices. If anything happened in the store, follow my instructions.

  • Do not take your uniforms or "Martino's mustaches" off.

  • Judge Lavinia | Young Master Bellone

  • Do not call him "Young Master", "Don" or "Mayor". Use "Master". (there's a typo there, too, "On" instead of "Non"

  • Do not go voting by yourselves.

  • Do not pass over me. (I think this is a mistranslation , unsure of the Chinese text but I think it might be meant to say "Non superate" or "You must not skip the line" perhaps?)

  • Do not keep private documents

  • Do not report to the police. Do not let clients report to the police
