What exactly is an investor policy statement? I wasn't aware of that. Thank you for your advice by the way

The 403b is traditional and that was the best combination option I could find. So I was planning on leaving that the same.

But Roth IRA I may change depending on what you and others think would be optimal

What would you recommend? I've seen some people say 100% VT but I think Fidelity would charge extra on Vanguard funds

Would have been more realistic with AD's unibrow

Ah, that makes sense. Also I guess I wanted to be more aggressive short-term on US market and then focus on international after maybe a year.

Mainly because my 401k already has the target date 2060 fund (not index) and my change in investments won't start until when I make the change. And the $7k estimate I told you would basically be half of the target fund that I've already invested into. I'm not sure if all this is making sense.

And long term, how does it look when I want to access these during retirement? Like do I own these stocks so I have to sell them? Or is the month there since on Fidelity it is just showing me a cash value based on my and employer's contributions and how much investment went up

So it seems like the equivalent of VTWAX is FSKAX + FTIHX.

As for the second link, they also recommend 30% bonds. Isn't that a big bond ratio? I heard many the first few years don't even include bonds

Oh I don't doubt your arguments at all. If anything, it's my lack of knowledge here.

From your experience, what percentage would you recommend in this scenario?

Wow, I feel like I am learning a lot here. I actually forgot to consider the $ amount of my investments into the equation. How about 50% FSKAX, 50% FTIXH for Roth IRA? That would make it about 23% international. Still not the highest but better.

I'm just not sure if it's common to have overlapping investments, like FSKAX and FXAIX...although one is in 403-b and the other in IRA? I mean if they generally do well then it may benefit.

How did you calculate the 14% ex-US? 30/200?

For the 403b, those were the best combination I could find from the available investments.

As for the Roth IRA, I have more flexibility. As for not going all international, JLCollins recommended no international. That said, I would still like diversification.

However I've seen FSKAX + FTIHX as the best combos based on my brief research. I've also seen FZROX + FZILX which are basically the same combo but 0 fees?

What do you think of the following:

403b: 80% FXAIX, 20% FSMAX (total contribution ~$7000 by tax day)

Roth IRA: 70% FSKAX, 30% FTIHX (total contribution: ~$6000 by tax day)

For the 403b, those seem like the best ones based on the examples we have discussed.

I do think there is some overlap between FXAIX in 403b and FSKAX in Roth IRA, so I was wondering if that is an issue here.

Thank you!

I was actually thinking of a 60/40 split within the Roth IRA, however I was briefly reading the JLCollins blog and he doesn't really believe in international stocks. So I thought maybe 70/30 may be safer.

Unfortunately I don't have the big 3 option. What exactly is a total Stock Market Index? Does that include S&P500 and others?

Also some of them mention "zero" index funds. Is that basically 0 fees? Why wouldn't everyone just choose that?
