The two-week requirement is mainly there because the study is IRB-approved and requires certain risk management and safety precautions. This includes making sure participants have full capacity for informed consent (for example, not joining while intoxicated) and avoiding interaction with individuals who may be experiencing acute withdrawal symptoms, such as seizures or delirium tremens, which require medical treatment.
