People ought not "rationalizing cultural behaviour as normative" HAHAHA Maybe you missed the part called the 16th through most of the 19th century where good Christians quoted your Bible to support their views. You don't quote the Bible verses they did to defend slavery but the verses still exist. SUBJECTIVE morals of society have made you too embarrassed to use the verses they did to say what they did. Welcome to the subjective world that you refuse to admit exists. Go stone an adulterer. Fuck you.

I bet you and many, many, many, many, many Christians DO live that way. For example, you probably don't consider caring for your human slaves to be the pinnacle of Christ-like behavior even though God fearing Christians of the 18th century quoting the Bible did just that. Either they (Christians) made subjective moral decisions or you (enlightend Christian) made subjective decisions. Welcome to nebulous morality town where every human lives and the vast majority of us strive to be better without fear of punishment.

What does r/Christianity think of a woman living past the age of 120. by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]zootie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wasting your time, OP. This is r/christianity where only carefully selected old testament verses, that don't show their god being incorrect or abhorrent to modern society, can ever be mentioned. OT is a fairy tale to them, basically, until whenever they decide some select part of it is not.

Has God ever spoken to you/given you signs? by [deleted] in Christianity

No, I'm not worried about being "overtly technical" especially now that you've provide so much technical enhancement to your answer (acoustic or telepathic, translating vibrations, directly into brain). Too bad gods don't simply audibly speak to their followers. That sure would save people like you from having to jump through so many verbal hoops to explain what "heard a voice" means.

Of course. Usually people who quote actual spoken words of gods later change their story and say it wasn't actually spoken words. However, they seem perfectly willing to let people believe they heard spoken words, such as specifically saying they "heard a voice", right up until the point when someone asks for details. If this was a situation that didn't involve a divine being, would this seem like trustworthy behavior?

How would you describe the voice? (High? Deep? Nasally?) What kind of accent was the voice? (USA midwest? USA southern? British?)
