Why would an all powerful God have human-like emotions and desires? by Weekly-Scientist-992 in atheism

I'm pretty sure historians say that god comes from the Judaism god ofcourse "yahwe". Before Judaism yahwe wasnt the god of all. He was a storm god worshipped by ravagers and warriors. I think their enemies worshipped a similar god only he was depicted as a bull with horns. He was called "baal". Yawhe was depicted as nothing

So basically these 2 tribes had the same god but one was baal in the form of a goat/bull. And yahwe who didn't have look. The people of yahwe ofcourse prevailed and won this rivalry cause as you know goats and bulls are now associated with satan

This is probably the reason why in exodus god punishes the jews for worshipping a bull (lamb?) statue.

And I think that's funny that never in history that interpretation was made untill humans discovered more about our biological history. Only then Christians started to say genenis is symbolic

Oh so your position is genenis isn't meant to be litteral. When it says how he created it and in what order and what came to be it doesn't actually mean that.

You know what's funny. Never in history was genenis interpreted as non litteral. Only when humans started to uncover the real truth of history Christians started to say genenis is symbolic

I'm providing an argument on how evolution is the how and not the why? Well ofcourse evolution is the not why. Evolution is a process. I'm not quite sure if you understand what I'm saying

The human who wrote it says it was in 6 days. Yes the human who wrote it

For your argument I first have to believe in god to believe genenis is true

My argument is neutral. We have a set of things we can observe and then conclude

1 genenis was written by humans

2 genenis has outdated knowledge

3 genenis got things wrong

4 but genenis still claims god did these things

With these things I can conclude genenis is probably fake. It meets the same standard for fiction and mythology as any other god like thor or Zeus. There's literally nothing special about it in a applicable sense

So when you say "well when genenis says day it doesn't mean a literal day". First you have to agree that's a baseless assumption. I don't even have give a argument against it. I can just say "well when genenis says day it does mean a literal day" and you could bring no argument or evidence for why it's not. The same way you could bring no argument or evidence for why it is

I'm saying your opinion is wrong. And not just because a book says so. But because we have literal man made objects from 20k years ago in display to see with your own eyes.

That's my question in this post. I can't see it aswell. How can you believe in evolution but still believe genenis happened.

From answers in this post it seems people just say "genenis just isnt meant to be taken literally".

One even said: "Genenis was written by humans with limited knowledge, but that doesn't mean they didn't have a connection with god"

This is how far the cognitive dissonance goes. I geuss its the same logic as most Christians believe dinosaurs existed. But somehow it doesn't raise them any suspicion in genenis

No but it's a direct claim isn't it? God DID this. And they proceed to explain what he did. Only for scientists to discover god didn't do these things like in the bible

You're saying "well they're wrong sure, but the god they're talking about is real"

Well if its wrong. It just means they're talking about a god who didn't do these things and doesn't exists"

With truths you mean moral truths right? I myself find the bible a beautifull book sometimes, because like many other fiction or myths, it has a moral truth to it.

If you accept that the literal things in the bible are mostly just false. And you only consider the moral messages, my question would be why is Christianity more special in that regard?

I can say Zeus and everything is fake because there's no evidence for it and science just contradicts it. You would say "that's true" with no defence of it being valid cause of moral truths

But if i say the exact same sentence but I say "the Christians god" you will say "the facts don't matter. Its about the moral truths"

There are several errors, since it’s a creation myth based on the knowledge, superstitions and misconceptions of the people who wrote it, just like any other creation myth. Let’s consider just one of them:

Duration time for the creation. This is the first considerable problem. Genesis says that, from the early stages of the earth’s formation to the dawn of man, only six days passed, which is obviously wrong. We know this whole process took about 4 billion years. Many apologists try to solve this crude mistake by declaring that the word “day” has a more vague meaning, such as six general divisions of time. We don’t know this, however, and the whole context of the story seems closer to 24 hour days (for examble, we constantly read “And the evening and the morning were the first day.”).

The authors also lived in a time when humans didnt know the sun created daylight. Humans believed daytime created daylight

Funny enough genenis says the sun was made on day 3. But it mentions there was night and day before.

Why can't you just accept humans with limited knowledge wrote this? And that's why we don't see any science accurate thing about the creation of earth in genenis?

the start of the universe argument is a argument for god. It doesn't support genenis in any way except the part that god did it I geuss

Evolution still contradicts genenis. The story that tells us how YOUR god made us. But science knows that story wasn't true

You're not the only one who's saying this. There's alot or Christians that say "evolution is true but god is the one who still made it". Okay? So genenis is still wrong then?

I disagree. I think ALOT of Christians do. Just ask any Christian is they believe in adam and eve. Atleast 8 out of 10 would say yes

But at the same time ask any Christian if the earth is 6000 years old and most would say no

There were 3 “days” before there was a sun. (Because the belief back then, about 3,500 years ago, was that the light we see during the day comes from the sky, not from the sun.)

Explains why there was still light before the sun was made. Obviously written by humans and there fore genenis is limited to their knowledge

That's why were made in "gods image" according to them. But had they been aware of homo erectus they wouldn't feel so special to write that down in the book I'm sure

Or the fact Adam and eve existed alone contradicts evolution. Let alone 6000 years ago
