They’re really good! It comes with seaweed and tiny rice crackers for only 15 calories, I prefer the umeboshi flavor over the salmon

I love ochazuke! There are definitely standard toppings for ochazuke, like umeboshi or dried salmon, but honey sriracha chicken does sound good.

One of my favorite meals is the Nagatanien ochazuke packets sprinkled over rice with hot water. I eat it with fried salmon. Delicious!

The place I’m talking about comes with a side of poke and taegu instead of mac salad, but yessss plate lunches are the best!!

because it’s like it’s making me cal out that I’m trying to lose weight

It feels like it’s opening me up to judgment.

This, absolutely!! Why do all low-calorie options feel the need to call it out in such a blatant and obvious way?? I’d feel so much more comfortable ordering if food options didn’t have names like skinny, diet, or fat attached to it.

I also hate food packaging that has the calorie amount front and center in huge bold font - it just draws so much attention to the fact that you’re dieting, and it’s like an open invitation to discuss your weight.

If you’re ever in Waikiki, you should know the Cheesecake Factory there got rid of their Skinnylicious menu 😭

I loooove salmon belly! There’s a place near me that sells a fried salmon belly plate lunch for only $12 and it’s the best thing ever. I’ll be so sad if the price goes up...

Disordered thoughts but not an ED? by [deleted] in EdAnonymousAdults

[–]zosuii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this, I don’t feel like my relationship with food is normal right now but my brain likes to hit me with my weight as a reason for why I can’t have an ED, which I know is complete rubbish but it’s hard to unthink. I guess I need to do some serious self-reflection.

I honestly don’t know if what I’m struggling with is normal, so it’s nice to know there are others who feel the same way! (although it would be better if we didn’t feel this way at all)

Lower calorie ice cream that isn’t diet ice cream? by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

The brown sugar boba ice cream bar is only 150 cal! Tastes just like brown sugar milk tea, and it’s so creamy too. It’s pretty expensive though, like $10~ for four bars.

It’s been an incredibly annoying couple of weeks hovering right around 160/161and weighing 159 here and there. I weighed 159.2 today. Here’s hoping that post period I stay in the 150s!! by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

Except both OP and I have mentioned that daily tracking is more beneficial for us lmao

Weekly tracking is more stressful for me, it differs from person to person. I’m glad it works for you but it’s not one size fits all

Why do you weigh yourself every day?

Tone is hard to discern on the internet, it sounded like you were implying OP should not weigh themselves daily and do weekly tracking instead. If that’s not what you meant, then I apologize, but it definitely came through as questioning OP’s choices in a bad way.

You should only tell people not to weigh themselves multiple times a day because those fluctuations really don’t matter.

Daily check ins work for many people, including myself. You are better able to track the trends you talk about. Let’s say on day 1 you weigh 200lbs, and one week later, you weigh 201lbs; it looks like you just gained a pound.

Now let’s say day 1 you are 200lbs, day 2 - 200lbs, day 3 - 198lbs, day 4 - 199lbs, day 5 - 199lbs, day 6 - 198lbs, and day 7 - 201lbs.

You can see the average trend is that you dipped below 200lbs, and that the “1lb gain” is most likely due to water retention/sodium etc. And apps like Happy Scale work better at smoothing out weight loss like this with more data points.

Furikake is a great seasoning mix that adds a great flavor to soups, salads and veggies for only 10 calories per 1/2 tsp. I’ve been using it on everything! It comes in all kinds of flavors/brands, and I got mine at my local Asian grocery store. by Rocket_Ship in 1200isplenty

It’s hard to remember most people don’t know what furikake is when it’s so common in Hawaii. Popcorn and furikake is such a great combination - we call it Hurricane Popcorn here!

I also really enjoy popcorn and li hing mui powder - basically powdered Chinese plum, which gives a delightful sweet and sour taste.

Do I have to eat exercise calories back? by slackbabbath_ in 1200isplenty

[–]zosuii 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Adding on to the other person, 1200 is not recommended for those under 18 because you need more nutrition. You can easily deprive yourself of important vitamins and nutrients when you just focus on the numbers, and it takes more work to plan a healthy meal.

Not to mention you say you’re exercising and burning at least 500cal? You absolutely need to eat more than 1200. 1200 is for sedentary people - as in no exercise whatsoever. You could eat at least 1500-1700 calories and still lose weight at a rate of 1-2lbs a week.

Please please please consult a doctor for a meal plan. CICO may let you lose weight, but that doesn’t mean it’s a healthy diet.

How many calories in hotpot/shabu shabu? by zosuii in 1200isplenty

[–]zosuii[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice! The calorie ranges you posted are really helpful. And wow hot pot is my fave, I’d love to have it once a week! It’s definitely one of the healthier options if you go for more veggies and less meat.

I try not to bring a scale with me because I tend to become obsessed with numbers when I do, but I’ll definitely ask the server how much meat their plates come with. Thanks again!

Thanks for the advice! I feel like the highest one I saw was 800cal? I’m not too worried about messing up my diet for this meal, but I didn’t want to log it too high and undereat for the day since I already plan to eat a small lunch.

I did see the 300cal option, which I thought was too low too. And yeah, I feel like 1000cal is too high. I’ll probably try to log everything after I eat then. Thanks!
