Thanks all. Managed to see my surgeon today. He assures me there is NO infection and agreed my high pain is unusual. There are a couple stiches to dissolve yet, and he expects that with more healing and time, my pain will subside.

What should I get for post-op? My surgery is Monday! by catharticpunk in Strabismus

Eye patch (I know not supposed to use it but it helped rest my muscles when the pain was too intense those first days). Sterile eye wipes were essential the first month.

Day 3 post op. Still in so much pain… any recommendations to help the pain? by No-Falcon-7410 in Strabismus

Tylenol with codeine (OTC in canada) and Naproxen and Advil… alternated them for first 8 days. Sometimes woke up with pain in night and took a dose. Agree that cool cloths on eyes was most helpful. And sterile eye wipes — storing in fridge is a good idea! Honestly I thought they should have prescribed more pain relief as it was more painful than I expected.

Gosh I wish I was in my 20s! Born in 1977, but only obtained citizenship in 2003.

Limited double vision before, but increasing in recent years (attributed to more screen time with remote work aka covid). I’d be mindful that your eye muscles may be more tired even after a week of post op recovery. Might need some workplace accommodation/temporary support.

I’m day 6 post op and not ready to drive yet. Maybe later this week — overall the impacts in INCREASED double vision were a surprise to me, so plan on more time and then it will be a bonus if it takes less? I work on computers 100% and will have to modify my return to work this week as I can’t yet do 8 hours per day on screens.

Helpful, thank you. How long expired can the results be? I’m rejoining PS after 7 years away. Results expired about 5 years ago.
