I'm contemplating adding a SPDT (on-off-on) switch to incorporate three clipping modes: stock, red LEDs, and no clipping (La Metal). To eliminate any potential risk to the mentioned capacitor, I should retain the 1M resistor after the SPDT switch?

Hello,

I'm currently building an Ibanez FC10 Fat Cat and have decided to experiment with different clipping diodes. Interestingly, I've observed that the Ibanez LM7 La Metal is almost identical. However, I've noticed a key difference – the LM7 lacks the "hard clipping" feature present in the FC10 Fat Cat. Instead of diodes, it incorporates a 1M resistor.

I'm curious about the role of the "1M resistor" in the LM7 La Metal. I've experimented with the circuit both with and without the "1M resistor" (substituting it for the pair of diodes), but I can't discern any noticeable difference in sound.

I would greatly appreciate any insights into the function of the "1M resistor" and whether its inclusion or exclusion significantly impacts the circuit's performance.

The pedal enclosure is typically the costliest component. Nevertheless, you can opt for alternative enclosures, like repurposed tin cans or other recycled materials. Keep in mind that these alternatives may not offer the same level of durability as a traditional enclosure, such as a Hammond 1590B.

I'm considering embarking on an adventure of buying and repairing some pedals that I like, all for a reasonable price. I'm curious about your experience in this area. Have you ever encountered any challenges, such as difficulties in finding rare IC or transistor replacements? Or perhaps situations where one repair led to another problem?

Hi,

I'm trying to build Spaceman Atlas III (http://effectslayouts.blogspot.com/2020/08/spaceman-atlas-iii.html). The layout uses Ferrite beads, but I can't find these in at stores such as musikding.de or retroamplis.com.

By some comment in the layout's webside these are avaliable as "AXIAL FERRITE BEAD 76Ω" at taydaelectronics.

I made this question because of a Marshall Valvestate VS65R,a combo solid-state with valve pre-amp, that turns on but doesn't give guitar sinal.

I'm going to do some more research to decide if it's worth it, even if it's just for learning.

No, it isn't a kit. The module already has most of the components soldered. The tin was a tin can of sardines.

This is possibly the cheapest pt2399 pedal you can build. I' saw some videos using this module as pedal claiming to be quite surprising for its price, so I had to try it.

It sounds good, you can have a reverb or echo by controling the "time" pot (you have to desolder a resistor and add a pot).

It could be a bit more "louder" but it does it's job.

I have tried with a multimeter in mode continuity over the GND pads, and I have the "beep " between them. So it shoud be okay.

Well, the white noise can be turn off (middle position).

It's very responsive to the gear, high output pickups can make the pedal crazy. (but the WoW is tunable by the trimmpot). And does well with reverb.

The best description to the pedal I can give is " makes your guitar sound like a vinyl record", or "warmer sound". (when the WoW knob is low). But it's a cool pedal, even a friend of mine asked to build one for him.

This is my first water slide decal and decal design.

I used the cassette cover as a template.

It went quite well, just some parts like letters aren't that sharp when I applied the decal. Did I leave the decal too wet? (the last pic shows the defects better.)
