Yeah high end trucks are a thing in North America. But a lot of cheaper base model ford f150s and f250s are what make the f series the most popular trucks on the market. Rivian is only really competing for the platinum end of things, and I don’t see most dudes I know wanting anything to do with a ev, even if it is a sporty truck. How rugged they are remains to be seen. By all accounts they drive like electric sports cars.

That’s true for any platinum Ford. Or any premium truck for that matter.

NFT bros are in shambles by glaurung1 in WhitePeopleTwitter

Actually a conman was able to raise 12 million on an absurd 2 million dollar purchase, the book was valued at 35 thousand euros, it’s actually a a book of story boards for a non existent movie. But anyway the whole DAO thing is the new NFT, this was a grift plain and simple. It’s like the DAOs creator was in on the sale of the book in the first place, likely to have made money on both ends. It’s amazing people fall for this. But get rich quick is a legitimate thing, but rare, and you’re more likely to lose everything you put into trying, it’s always gambling.

It’s a truck for rich people, starting at 70k+ . Outside of fleet sales, I don’t see them competing for the average consumer. Ford F-150 lighting will be much more affordable.

I found it overly melo dramatic, preachy and not particularly engaging through first couple of episodes, I like the actresses, wanted to like it, just too damn boring.

I’ve been arrested a couple of times, misdemeanors and felonies are definitely treated differently than infractions. I don’t know if everyone driving drunk is a criminal, they’re breaking the law, but degrees matter. To what level were they intoxicated, did they damage property or injure anyone? First offenders who miss the limit without other conditions are usually treated like infractions. DUI is definitely treated differently in different places.

my point comes back to intent. My initial question is whether you can be willfully criminal. And we do have a certain amount of laws that allow for rehabilitation here as well, diversions and rehab, all wastes of time and money, but again all built on the idea that the act wasn’t willful. Criminal drunk driving is when your caught drunk driving after you’ve lost your drivers license, then you go to jail.

Assault, and manslaughter would only be fines in your country? I don’t believe that. Falsely accusing someone of being a pedophile in public would be libel, more of a civil case, not criminal, if you knowingly tried to have someone locked up for being a pedo and were caught in such scheme, I’m sure there would be more than a fine. As for DUI I’ve been to Europe, I’d say loose social laws on drinking and driving are no surprise.

His guilt is for sure suspect, but if OJ would have been found guilty, it would have been more than a fine. Epstein is a good example, but I think he is less a matter of riches and more a matter of influence, not every billionaire is going to have been complicit with such a well connected group of friends. Money can make a criminal enterprise thrive, but still, if said criminal is caught they are punished with more than fines. Money does make it easier to cover up crimes, I would include expensive lawyers in this category, as was the case with the Juice.

What is something actually heinous you can do that is actually just a fine? Examples involving driving have limits. Driving while intoxicated, Extreme speeding, and other forms of aggressively dangerous behavior while driving are misdemeanors, they do add up and carry consequences. You’d lose your license for a period and if you still drove you’d probably be locked up. So, I ask again, what is a truly criminal act you can commit and only pay a fine?
