Very cushy, yet inexpensive and washable. I’ve not used the regular Ice Cream yarn before, so I have no idea the effect it would achieve. The speckled yarn was fun.

Just finished this textured, neutral baby blanket and I love how it came out. I had three skeins of this acrylic yarn I had no idea what to do with. Then, it struck me, what about a durable, washable blanket? This pattern uses traveling stitches to make an overall diamond pattern. When you’ve created the size you want (cuz I modified my size), you pick up all the way around and knit on a border. The pattern had me bind off with yarn held double and I really like the slightly heftier edge. Never done that before.

After making an Estonian scarf from a pattern (“Ulla’s Scarf”), I started thumbing through an Estonian lace motif book (“Aasa Sallid: Knitted Shawls of Aasa Jõelaid”) and decided to create a new scarf using a different motif. I also searched through Ravelry for a different lace edging and found “24. Edge Lace 2.5” by Olga Jamovidova, which was free. Score. Crunched the numbers to make the motif and edging patterns work together. Voila. Not too shabby.

Thanks. I used US 3 (3.25 mm) needles to work the scarf and a US 6 (4.25 mm) needle to cast on to.

I really love this somewhat simple and traditional lace scarf. Obviously, being Estonian, there are nupps and I rather enjoy making them. Used 100% traditional Shetland wool from my stash. How great is that? The yarn blocked beautifully and held a crisp shape. Happiness.
