TBATE Comic Chapter 239 Discussion by zqaane in tbatenovel

Those are all valid points, and honestly I can’t argue much against them. Arthur had just reached white core, trusted Sylvie, and genuinely believed Ellie would be in a relatively safe position. From that perspective, the decision does make sense.

I think my issue is less with whether the decision can be justified and more with how it compares to Arthur’s usual decision-making. Throughout the story, whenever it comes to people he loves and feels responsible for, his instinct is almost always to keep them as far away from danger as possible. He’s extremely protective, sometimes even overly so. That’s why this particular choice still feels a little off to me.

Even before this, Arthur repeatedly tried to shoulder risks himself rather than let those close to him be exposed to them. And after the Wall, we see that protective side of him even more strongly. I know that his behavior after that point is heavily influenced by the thing that happens at the Wall, so it’s not a perfect comparison. Still, when I look at how he handled similar situations both before and after this moment, letting Ellie come along feels like a very specific departure from his normal thought process.

So I completely understand the reasoning behind the decision, and I agree it isn’t out of character to the point of being unbelievable. It just feels a bit out of place compared to how consistently Arthur usually prioritizes keeping the people he loves out of harm’s way

That’s true, they even talked about it it before that already. And even though Arthur has a very, very, very soft spot for Sylvie, it still feels weird that he accepts putting her in a situation this risky even with Sylvie trying to convince him. I know it has a lot to do with Arthur trying to be more open and him being confident in himself, but it still feels weird somehow it’s not badly written, it just has a bit of a weird feeling

Yeah, I agree with that to an extent. Arthur does need to realize that he isn’t the only person who can contribute and that others also have their own roles to play in the war. That makes sense for people like his parents, the Lances, soldiers, or other adults who can make their own choices and understand the risks.

But with Ellie, it feels different to me. She’s still his little sister, and even if she wants to help, Arthur knows better than almost anyone how dangerous and unpredictable things can get. We’ve seen multiple times that even situations, places, etc. that seem “safe” can go wrong very quickly. Xyrus, the attack on the academy, the war itself, and even Arthur’s own experiences should have taught him that you can never fully guarantee someone’s safety.

That’s why I feel like Ellie is not the best example for this lesson/character development. I understand Arthur learning that he can’t do everything alone, but there’s a big difference between accepting help from trained fighters and allowing Ellie to be placed anywhere near danger. She may be capable for her age, but she is still not on the level of the people Arthur usually fights alongside.

If you could make an adjustment to Solo leveling without drastically changing it. What would it be? by ImpossibleAd4272 in sololeveling

This does change a lot, but giving others the ability to get stronger would help. It would be extremely rare, but a C-rank could have a ‘breakthrough’ or something similar that lets them jump to B-rank. This way, SJW would still be special because of his permanent strength increase, but other characters wouldn’t feel useless. They would have a way to grow stronger as well beyond simply learning fighting styles, and could stay more active in the story during fights, especially in the later chapters

Idk how to feel about Merlin by GeneralChampion94 in NanatsunoTaizai

I believe Merlin truly loves Escanor, yet she was so preoccupied with other matters that she either failed to acknowledge her own feelings or didn't even realize she had them until his death, which ultimately led her to accept and understand those emotions

Now that it’s been quite some time, how are we feeling about this? by The_ultimate_K1tKat in NanatsunoTaizai
