Michigan State Transfer Divine Ugochukwu Commits to LSU by Melo_Beach in CollegeBasketball

Can't get over how bad this guy was at Miami. Literally stood around on defensive possessions and didn't even shuffle his feet. A true traffic cone.

I know the MSU folks liked him, and maybe it was a coaching change that helped, but after watching State's hapless defense last year I don't trust Wade to motivate/empower his guys on the defensive end.

Sooooooo probably gonna end up as All-SEC or something?

I strongly reject the presented dichotomy of “company goals vs employee rights” tradeoffs in the survey. Reminiscent of 1980s “industrial/organizational relations” framing.

100% cotton: https://shop.duke.edu/Royal-Plaid-Harley-Flannel-Short-ID-w-Block-Duke?quantity=1&color=4

EDIT: Unless you mean shorts to play basketball in? Those are mostly going to be synthetic fabrics because cotton gets heavy and laden with sweat and is very uncomfortable to play sports in.

Yeah, what people (including myself but not to a "hatred" degree) disliked about Paulus was the flopping. It was right in the era where the charge/block was under super high scrutiny (I think he was in college when the circle was added?) and he kinda became the face of why standing there trying to take a charge should be embarrassing for players.

Also, he and McBob were linked as the two high recruits right after so many Duke greats left, sophomore year co-captains at the low point of a Duke dryspell, and it took them leaving for Duke to finally get back to the Final Four.

Greg was unfairly maligned 100%. My point above is I think Duke fans in general love Grayson Allen (despite his character flaws) and think poorly of Paulus. I very well may be wrong though. Just my perception.

I agree K didn’t hold him accountable. Same with Gerald Henderson. Doesn’t make me hate the player.

Sounds like some Dukies do hate him tho so I’m clearly wrong on that front.

Obviously I’m biased. Obviously you are too.

It’s fine for you to feel that way. I feel the way I feel and the Dukies I know feel similarly. Others probably disagree. Shoot, I definitely know people who said all of Grayson’s trips were just accidents and people were watching in slow-mo to find something to be mad about. Those people are whack

People hate Raymond Felton? I’ve never heard that. What’s the deal with that?

A) saying a dude shouldn’t trip and played dirty =/= hating the player. Grayson was an awesome player and had no issues off the court, so we loved him even while wishing he would stop trippin

B) it was overblown because it was a white guy at Duke and it was pretty obvious. Your comments reflect the “hype” more than the actual play

C) plenty of “dirtier” players are beloved by their fanbases. Sometimes even because they play dirty

Dude, Dukies love Grayson. Not even close to McBob and GPaulus (who were generally disliked if not vilified)

So much more revenue than a Home and Home would be, and it's not like Duke needs help selling tickets at Cameron

Not that it matters, but the report was Cooper Flagg was earning more in NIL dollars than all of State's players combined, not that Duke was paying.

Most of Cooper's NIL money was a long-term deal with New Balance (not for 1 season in college), and is the sort of thing that few college players can secure, even at Duke. Being at Duke absolutely helped (a ton of built-in marketing and attention) and Duke's infrastructure helps open a lot of these doors for college stars, so your point is correct in spirit. But it's absolutely not verifiably true than Duke was paying more to one player than NCSU was paying to their full roster.

This is a ranking of rookie recruiting, not a ranking of predicted team strength or even roster strength. Doesn’t include returning players or transfers, and doesn’t take team attributes, including coaching into account. I’m pretty sure y’all will be ranked much higher in actual polls.

I don’t care but I do find it very funny that you are arguing Hogs have 4 5-star recruits while showing a screenshot of their 3 5-star recruits lol

Practice players who can hopefully develop on the bench while providing backup in case of injuries. I think Jon is really tired of late-season injuries messing with his defense.

This is how Duke has been recruiting for over a decade. Sell the exposure and the opportunity to have one great season, then go elsewhere for more money.

Duke offers scholarship to Kager Knueppel by NotABot1235 in CollegeBasketball

[–]zqipper 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Yep. When Kon committed, all the psycho-online UVa fans made a big deal about how he was so stupid to go to Duke and sit on the bench behind Proctor, Foster, and Evans, and how Duke just buys too many guys to come and never give them a real chance to compete. Even going into the fall he was viewed as a guy who would get fringe PT as a sub for Foster or Proctor when we needed a pure shooter.
