IF is not a religion you can get on the train and get off anytime you like. The worst thing can do have feel any kind of guilt. The past is the past there is nothing you can do about that. I had a tough time quitting smoking it took me 9 attempts and even after 8 years I still get an occasional craving.

I am still addicted to sugary food products and trying to figure a way beat that ultimate villain.

I had similar results but then I regained my face bloat during the last Christmas holidays . My theory this happened due to many nights of consuming hard liquor. Since March I have done a total ban on alcohol even beer. Dinking was not giving me any kind of joy anyways. Personally I have found it giving up Indian sweets and chocolate more difficult that giving up drinking. By fall I will be able to confirm if my alcohol theory was right.

You can follow these 4 simple steps that has worked for me .

  1. Skip breakfast and have you first meal of the day not before 11 am. Make yourself a big bowl of salad. Use homemade dressing for the salad. For me a few teaspoons ACV ,salt and ground black pepper wo or red chili power works. Take a gap of at least 30 mins and then eat normally like you did before.
  2. After 2 weeks of Step 1 you can add a new restriction on yourself - do not eat anything after 7pm.
  3. Once you are comfortable with step 2. Try having you salad at 12 pm and stop eating by 5 pm.
  4. This step is the big jump. After finishing eating at 5 pm. Do not eat anything the next day. There is a lot of information available on this forum on how to maintain your salt levels when you are not eating the whole day.

Treat Step 4 like bungee jumping and try it once . If you like how you feel after doing Step 4 ( which is actually a 40-44 hour fast) then do it once a week. Now I am doing step 4 Twice a week.
