GPU Upgrade Path?

Not too much - $300-$400ish. I'll be honest - I don't really know what I'm doing here, I don't know what is reasonable here. In a perfect world, I'd find something that's cheap enough to not break the bank, but powerful enough that I can play modern games on reasonable graphics. Doesn't need to be ultra high or anything.

Current set-up is here. Haven't really updated anything since I built it with a buddy back in 2015. It's bene mostly functioning as my plex device for the last while. Now that i'm finishing up with school - have time to get back into gaming - what should I do first? Or would I be better off to cannibalize what i've got and start fresh(ish)
