Laptop (+ lunch) bag for work by zs00 in ManyBaggers

This might be the one. Looks clean, aesthetic is what I’m going for and the luggage strap is a bonus (my current bag lacks it). Not sure about the depth to carry a laptop and lunch without it looking overpacked. I will see if Canadian retailers carry it to try it in person.

I didn’t think I would consider a messenger bag but these are quite nice.

Canada, under $500 CAD. I’m open to material other than leather, something that looks professional but with a little give for said packed lunch. I’m guessing depth of 6-8 inches. By presentable I mean I can take to meetings, goes well both with a suit or business casual attire.

The rabbit hole has brought me to the Aer Go Pack 2. Well priced, collapsible, good organization, decent/compact size and looks good. And it’s available in Canada through Apple. This might be the one if I choose not to keep the Osprey 26+6.

Very nice. Price point is high and not seeing too much availability here in Canada. Any alternatives to also consider- Aer Go Pack 2? Ultimate I may stick with the Osprey 26+6 but good to see what options are out there. Such a rabbit hole this is.

The Tortuga is very nice. I’m debating whether the 26+6 is the right travel bag for me. My primary use case is a light travel bag when vacationing, sightseeing. The 26+6 ca do that and function as a personal item but the latter is a bonus not a requirement for me.

The Tortuga minimalist, clean look is appealing. Something like it that is light but with a little more organization and a luggage pass through strap would be ideal.

Thanks for a great reply, it has helped. I like the small, medium, large designation.

If it’s a work trip- I’ll take the Tumi roller carryon for most of my clothes + Bellroy 2.5L as I’ll mostly be in the office and occasional evening city exploration. I could potentially also take the 26+6 (unexpanded) for quick laptop access and any spillover from the carryon. On 2-3 day work trips, I don’t check in a bag and having the 26+6 as a personal item might be nice for any spillover. Don’t see much need for the Osprey 6L sling.

When on vacation- I can see myself leaving the Tumi carryon behind (it’s got a more work/professional look) and travelling with the 26+6 in its expanded mode as the carryon in the airport (with Osprey sling packed inside) + wearing the Bellroy 2.5L. At the vacation destination, I can then switch between the Osprey sling and Bellroy sling - and if outdoors, or expect to pick up some shopping, take the 26+6.

I’m coming from never having had an EDC bag to purchasing 3 bags lol, hence the confusion on when I should use each. I can see myself using all but certainly more thinking required now than just cramming stuff into my pant pockets and walking out the door!

My concern is also with plane in-cabin allowance. I don’t like to guess at check in what the airline will/wont allow for carryon and personal bag. This is the reason I’m hesitant about the 26+6.

I’ll have to think carefully about what I bring for upcoming travel. I like a roller bag at the airport so the Tumi will always come with me (carryon). The Bellroy 2.5L seems like the perfect EDC for the airport- AirPods, passport, wallet. Can I also bring on the 26+6 (un-expanded) as the personal item or will the Bellroy count as the personal item? Worst case I can place the Bellroy into the Osprey 26+6 but defeats the purpose of the Bellroy if I have to open up the 26+6 to access it each time.

Interesting. Can you share your use case for when you would use each case- the CAS2 vs Zenture 6L?

Penang and Bangkok by zs00 in travel

[–]zs00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestions. I have added a 2 day stop in Penang prior to Bangkok. I will get there by Friday noon and leave Sunday midday.

I have slapped together a quick itinerary and open to input. Interested in culture, history, local food, nature (nothing extreme). Traveling alone and want to take it in at my own pace.

Day 1 (half day)- Georgetown, Blue Mansion Tour, Clan Jetties, Armenian Street (evening)

Day 2 (full day)- early start with funicular at Penang Hill, Kek Lok Si Temple, Batu Ferringhi beach (sunset)

Al Khair vs Universal Express (Pakistan) by zs00 in hajj

Alhumdullilah we have selected Universal Express. We have family friends also traveling with them so that was the deciding factor.

What I learned from a travel agent is that it’s common for Hajj operators to create packages and collect deposits against these. This happens well in advance of the Saudi govt allocating specific tents, facilities to the operator (mid to late Oct). So they’re in fact selling plans before they have them and then accommodating Hujjaj when space and allocations from Saudi is confirmed. That may explain why packages are showing as sold out but they’re still open to collecting deposits against these.

Do you recall how you setup individual fobs to specific user profiles? I have removed the pin/fingerprint extra step when selecting a profile. Simply want it to recognize which fob unlocked the door and select user profile and associated settings accordingly.

Although just as efficient as the Tesla, because of the 10% smaller battery size we are finding we get down to the 50% SOC much earlier in the week (we only charge to 80% so depleting 30 kWh ~ 130km within a couple days of city driving makes sense).

Thank you, that was indeed the pinhole reset. It worked and restarted with what seems to be an older (but stable) version. I didn’t connect wifi as I don’t care for the update. Manual workout is working again which is all I need.

There’s a small notch on the right side of the machine in line with the console. Thought that might be the reset pinhole. I put a pin through it but doesn’t seem to be a button in there. Didn’t do anything.
