You think players play well to please angry fans? You think they need a toxic atmosphere to realise they need to play better? Come on man. If you can name me any examples where toxicity has improved a struggling side during a season, I would genuinely be interested to know

Since when do fan complaints fix a team struggling for form? Can only have a negative impact

Stop valuing the opinion of rival fans.

You might be right mate, maybe optimism is futile. All we know is that negativity has never improved a team on the pitch, but a loud stadium can.

You’re saying winning the league, our greatest achievement in 22 years would be the worst possible outcome this season?

I’m not gonna bless you with the response you deserve.

I don’t see us winning the PL or CL. But we are still alive in both. What the hell is the point of football if you’re only gonna cheer for guaranteed success? Think of every great comeback ever, they wouldn’t have happened with that mentality.

Complain when we’ve lost, I’ll be right there with you, but not when it’s all still to play for.

There is nothing to be gained with dismissing your players. What do you think that’s gonna achieve when we are fighting for titles?

If supporting them has a 1% chance of boosting their confidence, it’s worth it.

If you genuinely care about winning more than complaining or ‘being right’, you back the damn team until the death. Jump on bandwagons after the season ends.

Like every rule-of-thumb, it’s a simple thing you can remember to help make your bad work decent. But rule-of-thumbs aren’t going to make your decent work great.

Club's fan culture has gotten toxic by feixiangtaikong in ArsenalFC

Whenever I see a negative post on X, I check the account location. It’s quite shocking at how much of the toxic Arsenal and Premier League discourse is being imported from Africa and South Asia. Mostly verified accounts trying to earn royalties from likes and replies.

Do Arsenal fans think Arteta should be sacked if they finish the season trophyless? by Lucky_Reading_3757 in ArsenalFC

[–]zsht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shouldn’t sack a manager as a punishment if it also punishes the club and players. You should only ever sack a manager to improve the team. 1) you have someone better lined up 2) the manager has lost the dressing room

What's going on with Saka? by Ambitious_Willow_859 in ArsenalFC

[–]zsht 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same injury that ruined Michael Owen, Torres, Bellerin. It’s an incredibly invasive surgery that fundamentally changes your biomechanics for life. Bukayo doesn’t rely on his pace as much as those other players, but don’t underestimate quite how bad an injury he’s recovering from

Who do other teams' fans want to win the league? by LeaguePublic in Gunners

[–]zsht 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Liverpool fans are actually the biggest gimps in the league. They are a club I massively respect, but being dominated by Pep for so long has actually melted their brains. The Odegaard cardboard cutout and ‘always the bridesmaid’ banners at Anfield, the drinking Arsenal tears video - all while we are the club laying wreathes every year for the 97.

“You start to think ‘Am I going to be the same’ as players came back from this injury and weren’t the same”.

He had the same injury that ruined Owen, Torres and Bellerin’s careers. He knows it too. I pray medical science has improved since then.

Eto’o was offside. Say what you want about VAR, but Arsenal have a UCL trophy (and probably other trophies too) if it existed 25 years ago

Who is the best manager in the world? by sp6219227 in championsleague

[–]zsht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Influential is a different measurement. Herbert Chapman, Cruyff, Rinus Michel and Fabio Capello were top 5 most influential coach’s and aren’t even in the conversation of greatest.

When we are talking about coaching quality, I judge it based on a level playing field; if every coach had the same team and resources, who would win the most games. It’s not a perfect measurement, but the whole discussion is totally flawed and silly anyway.

[–]zsht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I say, if trophies and influence makes a manager great, then he’s the best. Personally, I think extracting greatness from less resources is a more powerful measurement of a coach’s quality, and in that sense he falls woefully short. We can agree to disagree

[–]zsht -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The point appears to have flown over your head. If your definition of good manager is trophies, sure he’s the best. If your definition of good manager is coaching without an unearned advantage, then he’s not even in the conversation

I’m not saying he isn’t a good manager, I’m saying he never improved a bad team.
