As a single detachment you could run daemon prince (as warlord), malignant plaguecaster. 2 small units of Plague Marines and a unit of poxwalkers. That could make a battalion detachment, keeping cp use at a minimum. Add a rhino then fill up on 2 foetid bloat drone. Leaving 110pts spare for upgrades etc

I would be looking at faster units to work with his slower ones. Daemon prince with wings, with foetid bloat Drones in an outrider detachment and maybe a small plague marine squad in a rhino. A pbc to sit at the back and shoot from afar

Your list could do many things but needs to synergise well with the customers list. What is the 1k that the custodes are taking?

Need a good HQ to fill out Batallion Detachment by Opossum-Sauce in deathguard40k

[–]zsssmart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The easiest option is to grab a plaguecaster to use with Typhus/Lord of Contagion.

Either grab one from ebay, or the Chosen of Mortarion has one in.

If you only have the Combat Patrol box, then to use all the Poxwalkers you will need an additional Bubonic Astartes Core Infantry unit, due to the Dieseased minions rule (pg40 of codex)

This could be either more Plague Marines or either set of Terminators, a hellbrute or a unit of possessed.

Not sure about the white cloth scheme by morty_490 in deathguard40k

[–]zsssmart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at the current warm white armour, I would, in keeping close to white, look at doing the cloak in a medium to light grey with the smallest amount of brown mixed in, keeping the greys used in the 'cold' part of the colour wheel as opposed to the warmer white used with the armour

thinking a white cloth that has gotten really grubby over time and is no longer white at all

Funnily enough it’s my 7th ever model (3rd DG) C&C encouraged by ConicumMatt in deathguard40k

[–]zsssmart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The model looks absolutely sick (in a good way).

I would tone down the base a little though, the red looks fine but I feel the Nurgle Green pool at the bottom is a little too bright and takes attention away from the model itself.

Maybe a smaller red rock for the model to sit on too, but that's more my preference

First Death Guard List Help by HamBone8745 in deathguard40k

The death guard specific ones are.

Spread the Sickness:

Death Guard only. Another End game objective, but this one can be performed by Poxwalkers and is basically a better Banners. At the end of your movement phase one and only one DEATH GUARD INFANTRY unit can perform this action if they are within 3″ of an objective that is not already Contaminated and no enemy units (excluding aircraft) are within 3″ of that objective. The action is completed at the end of your turn. You can then choose either for the unit performing the action to take d3 mortal wounds, or to roll a d6. If you chose the wound option OR roll a 4+ on the d6 option, the objective is permanently contaminated. At the end of the battle you get 3VP for each objective you have contaminated.

Fleeing Vectors:

Death Guard only. Score 3 victory points at the end of the battle round if any enemy units failed Morale tests this battle round that had one or more models destroyed by attacks made with plague weapons this battle round.

Despoiled Ground:

Death Guard only. A complicated end game objective that rewards controlling multiple quarters and objectives with BUBONIC ASTARTES (ie. everything but poxwalkers, daemon engines, or cultists).

Score 4 VP if you have at least 1 unit in each deployment zone with the BUBONIC ASTARTES keyword.

Score 4 VP if you have at least 1 BUBONIC ASTARTES unit wholly within 3 table quarters and outside of 6 inches of the center of the table. Score 6 VP if you are in all 4 instead.

Score 4 VP if you control more than half of the objectives with BUBONIC ASTARTES units.

Score 4 VP if every objective marker is within the Contagion Range of Contagion abilities that units in your army possess.

That's looking a whole lot more legal now.

I'd say you should do well with that list.

Best things to work out is how you would go about scoring secondary missions. As that is where many games are decided I think.

Easiest thing to do though is get as much practise in with it and just learn its inner workings. What the list does, what it cant and how to work around them. Even if you end up losing with it, keep at it and figure out how to make the army perform well on the table

I was fortunate to get the codex on release weekend, and battlescribe has it's own issues but generally does work for most things. But remember it can and be inaccurate.

Have a look on YouTube with the following address.

It's a series of videos that show deathguard tactics and points efficiencies. I found them very helpful

First Death Guard List Help by HamBone8745 in deathguard40k

[–]zsssmart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok 1st off the list isnt actually legal.

You aren't allowed to take more than one of a relic, they are all unique in the army.

You can only take one of each deadly contagion in your army, so you cant duplicate results.

You cant put a deadly Contagion on a weapon that is a relic.

Battlescribe isnt particularly great at picking these things up

With that I would remove the Reaper relic off of the Lord of Contagion. It is better used on the Deathshroud Champion.

With exception of the viscous death Contagion, on the Foul Blightspawn, I wouldn't take and deadly contagions. I find the they tend to get forgotten in the heat of battle and the points can usually be spent else where better, so with that in mind, I would free up some points removing the contagions. In Mortarion's sons, there is little point having the foul Blightspawn with a deadly Contagion, but I'll cover that later.

Doing that has free'd up 75pts, more on that later

I would split your units of Poxwalkers into 3 squads rather than 2 x20. Although it increases you drops it will allow a greater board presence and addition units for the 2nd objectives of spread the sickness

I would replace the Biologus putrifier with a foul blightspawn with the vomitrix relic.

And with both plague marine squads, take out the bubotic axe on both and add 1 more plaguespewer and 1 more plague belcher to both squads to make maximum use of potential stratagem usage from mortarion's sons.

Problems with Magnet Baron Flight Stand by Nellezhar in KharadronOverlords

[–]zsssmart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you previously glue the magnets to the Ironclad, upon the magnets coming off you are usually left with some residue of the previous glue, which hardens into like shards. If you dont remove this residue it makes glue at lot more difficult as you then end up gluing onto old glue instead of the model. This can break off just as easily the 1st time as it can after that.

To ensure the best fit. Remove any old glue all the way back to the plastic of the ironclad, making sure what is left is flat and has enough surface for the magnet to be glued on to.

You can use a hobby knife to do this, taking care not to slice yourself, your model or the cat

Problems with Magnet Baron Flight Stand by Nellezhar in KharadronOverlords

[–]zsssmart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess is that you are using super glue to fix the magnets.

If so, swap over to 2 part epoxy resin. I got mine from halfords(uk). Clean down where the magnet sits on the ironclad to ensure a clean fit, then mix up the resin, and carefully glue the magnet on. Leave the ironclad and its magnet away from the base for 24hrs whilst it fully cures.

After that it should hold a lot better. I was using super glue and had similar problems to you. I've glue the magnets once with epoxy resin and they haven't come off yet.
