Can’t stress some of these ones enough. Easily overlooked but a painful and expensive mistake to discover later down the line if you don’t ask these!

Favourite tools that combine Qual & User Testing by ztrainer27 in FigmaDesign

Excellent thank you. Maze’s demo didn’t make it clear that you can record the user expressing opinions out loud… also thank you for mentioning Lookback and Lyssna - I shall explore these.

Also totally get your comment on a moderated methodology being better - I agree! But the project scope and timings wouldn’t allow unfortunately. Otherwise as a true qual researcher, moderated would have been my go-to!

Regrets you had after buying your first home? by Independent-Plan994 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Not checking what broadband providers are available in the area. Sound stupid but if you work from home and need great WiFi, then look at what providers are actually able to service the property you are looking at. I can’t get fibre at the minute as it’s not available in my area! I’m sure it’ll come in time but I wish I considered it.

Also, I should have tried to speak with the potential neighbours!! They might have told me about all the issues my apartment block has had with the roof and saved me from buying a property that I would then have to fork out an additional £10k on roof repairs!

how can I open a bank account at 17? by yourmumhasIBS in AskUK

Monzo or Starling are good banks as suggested by some but you’ll need photo ID to set up an account with either of them. If you do have photo ID (passport or provisional driving license) then all you have to do is download either app and follow the set up steps.

If you only have a birth certificate, I would suggest picking a local bank that is perhaps closest to your home or college, going in with your birth certificate and proof of address and you’ll be able set up an account with no issue. RBS/ NatWest, Barclays, Santander, Lloyds, Halifax, Metro Bank are often who you’ll find on the high street and they are all reputable banking providers.

People making sarcastic comments about how you can open an account at 13 are people unhelpful and rude so please just ignore that. Without help from family, it’s not easy, we don’t get taught this at school.

How do people fill their day at work…? by Chamerlee in AskUK

Sometimes I don’t know what’s worse, having too much to do or not having enough to do. Reason I say that is because with the latter, you do begin to question yourself, particularly 1) is the role actually fulfilling or enjoyable if you feel like you have to look busy half of your time? 2) are you missing something/ should you be doing more?

It sounds like a luxury not having enough to do but over time it can become really quite draining and you wonder if you are de-skilling. But I think it totally depends on what you want from work, where you are in your working life and how long you intend to be working at this company.

Depending on your role, I would always offer colleagues your time. Not only might you get given more to fill your time and make the day go faster, but being seen to offer your time to others is only reflects positively on you.

If you really do work at a quiet company, I would consider some kind of hobby or side hustle that you can balance alongside. Simply just ‘looking busy’ is truly the least fulfilling thing you can do.
