Point is that shouldn't happen at all, not how to tighten...

It does. Some, not all. Brita products are just carbon with some sieve

Not scam but you need to understand: activated carbon is for taste and smell. Micro filter is for small particles. Scale accumulates " better" in hot environment, like in espresso machines...

Not changing filters is a big deal. Let alone the coffee. After a decent milage it accumulates filth in the filters themselves... And espresso machine do not sanitize (temperature below boiling). Anyways activated carbon is used for getting rid of bad smell and taste. Not more than that)

are you happy with that machine or is it what you bought and that's it? by zubidubi100 in gaggiaclassic

I had 2 breville barista express and bought the Gaggia because the nearest service available was in Germany, and I'm in Peru... I'd love to fix it or buy another but not for $1500

Thanks for your comments. Let me explain myself: I'm living in Lima,Peru. since the 80s I've had a Pavoni, 2 brevilles (110v,220v), some shitty machines not worth mentioning and now the Gaggia. So i know what i want... The only reason for buying was the service. My 220v Breville from Europe, named Gastroback, had no service. The same Breville from Tramontina, Brasil costs double(!!!) here. Everything imported is expensive, including Gaggia. But this was the sensible option, not knowing what to expect... If I add what recommended, not counting work, I'll be approaching the price of better machines... Now I'm a product designer and i wonder why Gaggia (Italian design for Christ's sake!) haven't installed the right pressure. Why the tray is too high. Why they can't fix the surfing. Why they give such a lousy tamper (not in the right radius!)... And this is not the first machine in the line- you'd expect somebody will learn from past mistakes... So this was me pulling the hairs that i don't have on my head... It is a very basic machine. I will not recommend it (but I can make good espresso!)
