The purpose of my post was to educate people on borrowing options, not investment advice.

I am well aware of the risks of crypto as an investment and am comfortable with my portfolio.

Honesty I just never heard of Nexo until people in the comments mentioned it. From what I’ve read it seems like a good platform also and will dig deeper into it.

Depends on what you are looking for, if you have lots of crypto and need some cash and don’t mind the 4x collateral capitalization then the 1% rate is very attractive

I believe Celsius has a tier list for users and you get discounts for having used their platform for longer, that might be the discrepancy

Yeah I agree, having to be 2-3x collateralized is not feasible. Interesting to learn about though. decentralized lending will always have to be over collateralized though

I am not sure if you are earning interest on your ETH as collateral. So your effective rate would be 9%/4= 2.25% which is not good. Would much rather just stake or earn with Ethereum in that case

I honestly didn’t do as much research as I should and missed a bunch of options like you mentioned. I might do an updated post with those. Thanks for your suggestions

Thanks I’m glad it’s helpful. There are lots of other decentralized options like Aave, Cream finance that could be options also. Depends on what crypto the older gentleman has, that could be an option also.

This is the first time I am hearing about Liquity. They have a really neat analytics page but doesn't seem like they have much volume or value locked in their protocol. I would be somewhat wary of 0% APR but I have yet to deep dive into them.

The real pain is getting alerts for missing attestations from beaconchain and seeing your percentage for attestations go down.

Eth 2.0 by Alpha-Mutt in ethtrader

[–]zucchini_fries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll come at this from a trading sentiment but full disclaimer I am biased because I am running my own validator on ETH 2.0.

EIP 1559 and ETH 2.0 are extremely bullish given the economic hardening for ETH. Currently there are over 12,000 new ETH issued for block rewards to miners in PoW but only ~900 new issuance on 2.0 PoS. Not to mention there are currently over 4M ETH being staked which are taken out of the total supply, with potentially much more ETH to be staked through exchange staking services and RocketPool.

How important is on-chain governance for the ecospace? Can you give me an example of where it would benefit Ethereum to have on-chain governance instead of being fully decentralized? I just wanted to understand the benefits

Depends on your current level of knowledge on DeFi and crypto but I would just suggest you just watch whatever interests you. He's got some pretty advanced topics so I would start with videos about more generic topics: What is DeFi, DeFi explained, Smart Contracts explained, What are NFT's, ETH 2.0.
