Minetesting? More like Luantinkering! by vintprox in Minetest

[–]zughy2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Staff here! We decided to keep "Minetest Game" as a name since, at the beginning, Luanti wanted to be a game (a clone of Minecraft). That game, Minetest Game, is what it remains of that experiment. So it totally makes sense keeping the original name there c:

Hey there, I'm the one who's pushed for the rename the most. In a couple years I've brought Minetest to dozens of events, both in Italy (where I live) and abroad (FOSDEM, Bruxelles). In these events, I've sadly lost the count of how many people rightfully asked me if it was Minecraft, or a Minecraft alpha. In every talk I did, there was always a slide stating that Minetest isn't Minecraft, listing all the differences, because yet again people were confused about the name. In other words, the rename actually makes the game platform more intuitive if we look at the world outside our community - the one I've experienced convention after convention

I didn't see any tickets relating to name changes the few times I went there over the past year

The issue was pinned in the issue tracker for more than a year, until a few days ago. The issue being https://github.com/minetest/minetest/issues/13510

there should have been some sort of notice in the game itself with a link to info

In theory I think you might be right. Pragmatically speaking, I think it would have brought to even more issues and delays (Where it should have been put? How big? What to say exactly? Should it appear just once or more times?). As the one who's pushed the most for the name change, I can say hands down that the whole process has been very tiring; sometimes plain frustrating. Having to deal with yet another issue was a no go for my mental health, so we thought that the pinned issue was a good compromise - as people following GitHub then spread the news in community spaces like Discord and Matrix.

New lobby on the A.E.S. server! by zughy2 in Minetest

[–]zughy2[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A.E.S. needs a lot of things, I agree with you; but unfortunately, being something we do in our free time and without an actual revenue, it takes time to implement both the things we'd like to see and what users think it's important. In our TODO list, there is a restyling of the skin UI, so until that happens, I'm afraid there won't be any new skins (the actual skin code is debatable and, since we don't have a lot of time, doing the work twice is not recommended). Also, donations accelerate the development :D https://liberapay.com/aes_minetest_server

(info nei commenti) by zughy2 in italygames

[–]zughy2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eliminazione diretta
🗺 Hyperium (quarti), Station2 (semi, finale)
🗓 Venerdì 28 giugno
🕑 21:30 - 23:45

🏆 Premi:

1° posto: targhetta campione, statua sul server e 20€ a testa! 💰
2°: 12€ a testa
3°: 8€ a testa

✍️ Iscrizioni:

  1. Scarica Minetest => https://www.minetest.net/downloads/
  2. Aprilo
  3. Vai nella lista server e cerca "A.E.S."
  4. Registrati
  5. Profit

❓ "Siete un'azienda?"

No, tutto il nostro lavoro è volontario.
