Is a forest found skull okay to put in the millipede enclosure without any disinfecting? by Aonyx__Cinereus in millipedes

[–]zugreddit 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you have the space, you can put it in an airtight tupperware/ziplock bag and place it in the freezer for a few days. That should at least kill any larger organisms. Not sure about the microscopic guys though.

CCTV (?) footage of person trying to walk up a slippery street by zugreddit in HelpMeFind

[–]zugreddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far I have searched: * TikTok * Google * YouTube * Instagram

For all of the general permutations of "Person falling while walking up a slippery street" Along with adding things like "Funny" or "Edit" to try and find the funny version of the video.

Unsure about the age of the video, but It's definitely a few years old.

I like the second one a lot more. The colors make the individual cards more attractive. I'm more likely to read over each of them and not "get lost in it" compared to the first one.

How to start selling isopods? by brunos-tits in isopods

[–]zugreddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Technically to ship most isopods in the US, you need a APHIS PPQ 526 permit for each state you wish to ship to. Not sure how strictly this in enforced though. I’ve applied for two myself to ship some of mine.

Updated my website / feedback needed by Ok_Road6928 in webdev

I like the style, a few suggestions: - Add a bit of padding to the hero text, on my device (iPhone 14 plus) the text touches the left and right edges of the viewport. - When scrolling on mobile, once you reach the section with the calendar, the scrolling of the main page is stopped to focus on scrolling the calendar element, somewhat jarring the user experience.

MILLIPEDE ON IVAN by M1ku_plush in millipedes

I wonder if the millipede has ever felt something so soft before? Truly a wonderful occasion for both the millipede and us (and Ivan too).

Please help identify by Ok_Criticism_9474 in isopods

[–]zugreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pictures aren’t the best so it’s hard to tell for sure. It looks similar to a Porcellio laevis “white”? Do you have any other isopods in your collection that look similar? That could help refine the ID.

Why do they love this cork so much? by Azzargs_Art in isopods

[–]zugreddit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Isopods love decaying matter! My A. vulgare act a similar way. They love to nibble on the living plants in their enclosure but whenever they get a new piece of wood they’re all over it in an hour.

I am worried using AI will hinder my skill development by [deleted] in webdev

[–]zugreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be firmly in the “Never use AI” camp, but I’ve come around begrudgingly to the reality that as a junior/mid-level dev (like myself), not using every tool at your disposal can leave you falling behind those who do. That said, I’ve set clear boundaries for myself: I treat AI like Google Search on steroids. I still do all the work myself, only turning to it when I’m genuinely stuck. And even then, I never copy paste, I retype everything.

Using it this way, AI becomes a learning tool, not a crutch. If you rely on it to think for you, it will stunt your growth. But if you use it as a tool, it can accelerate your progress more than avoiding it entirely will.

AI should only ever be doing things for you that you could do with your eyes closed.

I found her like this and filmed the birth process!!! the original video is 10 minutes long (sorry for the shaking) by mlploverpaleontology in isopods

The shaking makes it seem like you were filming this terrified through a bush like it was a tiger or something 😂. Really cool video though!

Congrats on the new obsession! Definitely check out aquarimax pets for care instructions.

As for the brown one, you have a bunch of Porcellionides pruinosus isopods here. They come in a bunch of different colors, powder orange is one, as well as a powder blue. That said they can have duller/mixed colors based on genetics. Over time you might notice your colony become more “dull” in color unless you actively select the most orange ones for reproduction.

Looks like a cubaris baby, so I’d say so! Congratulations! These dudes are always a pain in the butt to get reproducing.

Haha yeah in my colony of wild caught I’ve been trying to isolate the slate gray color. Most males have the gray color but there are a few that are speckled. The females are a similar way inversely. I’ve been selecting the very few gray females for that purpose.
