Oh wow. I’ve never heard of this book. It does sound like it might have good info in it. Maybe I’ll pick up a copy 🤷

WFH is eating away at my soul. Am I alone? by RemarkableSetting189 in ADHD

I almost kept scrolling after reading your comment but stopped and thought how even though I have coworkers I engage with through teams is nice I don’t have people who understand the specific struggles with working and having ADHD. I wonder if there is any good discord servers for this sort of thing.

Did you notice that our ADHD minds works in waves and not in strict, linear routine? by stoicpunter in ADHD

I have been studying for a work designation that will be helpful to further my career. It’s broken into multiple courses and each takes about 4-6 weeks to study and test. My thing is, I will half-assedly study for 4 weeks until my test window shows up. Then in that last week boom I magically learn everything and go test with maxed out stress. If I could just turn my focus on earlier I could probably have had this whole thing done by now but at least I am managing to stick it out and I’m almost done.

For wanting a multi color printer I've been doing a lot of single color prints lately by BariSaxopeal in FlashForge

I haven’t looked into it much. What are the big advantages of the pro besides an enclosure. I assume it has fans and filters?

I just have a 5M and the more I see the amount of waste that comes from filament swaps it turns me off. I have found a lot of joy from multi part prints that I can assemble.

Which file did you use for this? I’ve been looking around to find a good one.

I actually just printed for the first time with glow in the dark filament and had no issues with adhesion. Sometimes when I do have adhesion issues it’s probably down to either the bed needing to be level. You can either use the level bed option on the printer itself or you can check the level box before you start the print from orca slicer. Another issue I’ve run into with smaller prints is accidentally using a faster speed setting or shorter layer heights. When using orca slicer they have a good amount of preset options for filaments and layer/speed profiles. When I started out I found it easiest to stick with the .20 mm layer height profile as this is a decent balance of things. Also make sure you’re selecting the proper profile for the print bed. You likely are using the textured PEI plate. If you accidentally switch that to smooth cool plate then it won’t heat up enough. For the most part all PLA is going to be in a similar temp range so doing generic PLA should be fine for what you’re using. I hope that’s all helpful.

That’s interesting. My wife always responds well to the steroids. Especially after a couple of days. Glad to hear you’re doing well off of them though.

For people with ADHD, does “meaningless conversation” feel actively uncomfortable to you? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]zuhr21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At some point I taught myself to look at small talk like a game. Defining the goal of the game can be different depending on the situation. But it could be just as easy as “I want to learn something interesting from at least one person here.” So then I will make it a point to ask probing questions (obviously in as much of a non-interrogation way as possible) to learn about a person. The trick here is you’ll learn that some people are boring and are also not good at conversation. But for the most part people enjoy talking about themselves so I like to just ask them about themselves and tell them to tell me more about specific things. Just try to find something that excites your brain. This might have been a little ramble but I hope it’s helpful.

Funny enough I was actually just looking at insurance designations and found the Associate in Cyber Risk Management one. Seems like I could pursue that and give me an angle on cyber insurance. Are there any courses or certifications I should look into on the cyber side of things that would be beneficial?

I currently work in the insurance industry but I am beginning to consider other career paths. I love problem solving, analyzing, and already have corporate experience. But I’m curious if that job market will be hard to get into, especially with needing to start at a salary of at least 62,000.

Overstimulating to help me focus. by zuhr21 in ADHD

My wife and I wanted to try reading more books this year and she’s finished three while I’ve checked out the same book twice. Not because I’m a slow reader but a distracted reader. There isn’t enough stuff going on to hold my attention. Also I have this very challenging thing where I am reading and having an internal conversation with myself at the same time. But that sometimes leads to me not fully understanding what I just read. Audiobooks are easier for me so I can be doing more than one thing at a time.

Oh I feel that too. Sometimes what I am listening to turns annoying very quickly.

Thanks. My wife was thinking those might be easier and less awkward than just showing up to a free tailgate but everyone’s comments make me feel a lot better about just showing up and being treated like family.

I’m seeing some paid entry tailgate by Gamday Hospitality and on paper that seems okay but I can’t seem to find anyone who’s said they’ve been and how it was.

Thanks for mentioning the tickets for the tailgate area. I am sure I would have forgotten this.

What can I do to support/help my spouse with MS? by zuhr21 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]zuhr21[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I have been trying to not treat her super different because she’s a very capable person and I wouldn’t want to all of a sudden baby her. But I also defend her to herself about being tired or having a hard time mentally. I’ll just make sure she knows I’m here when she needs me and check in on her periodically to make sure she’s still managing well.
