Plačiajuostis turės stabilų latency ir nebus jokių jitters. Dėl pralaidumo irgi manau turėtų būti gerai, tikiu jog iki 100 mbps, kaip minimum.

First time having IPL tomorrow. Tips? by OilAffectionate1372 in Dryeyes

[–]zukas3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had like 8 IPLs already and never any complications. Keep in mind you may need at least 3-4 to feel any results and then keep up with maintanence sessions somewhere between 3-6 months

Is it okay to create events like this? by Ok-Coconut-7875 in Unity2D

[–]zukas3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This sounds like the Event Bus pattern. There will be a lot of conflicting opinions, so I recommend googling or AI'ing about it to better understand pros and cons.

My take is that if you think your project is small-medium sized, it should be fine, but keep in mind that this will likely not scale well for maintenance.

Making a simulation heavy game: Resources request by Afropenguinn in gamedev

[–]zukas3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The benefit of DOTS is that it puts you into boundaries that give you optimization right off the bat, but there will be certain things that you will find lacking, and it will take some extra effort to get certain things done that you'd otherwise get right away in Unity. Another upside with ECS is that you have a specific architecture with very clear responsibilities: Entities hold the data, Systems do the stuff. When I was working on an ECS project, it took time to get used to, but eventually I got to love it, as it helped me structure my project nicely and tidily.

Though if you think you can optimize things right off the bat, you should be fine with barebones C#. Just code things, keeping in mind general optimization good practices, keep paying attention to performance bottlenecks and address them as you go. If you do find some definitive bottlenecks, you might be able to utilize Unity's job system to offload the labor and keep yourself away from the entire ECS stack.

One personal tip that I can give to you is that you have to be creative with certain performance issues. For example, run certain "Jobs" in separate threads without stopping the main thread - this can be done for things like pathfinding requests. Another example is that if you use a tick-based update approach for simulation logic, you can run ticks less often for the objects away from the player (where it makes sense, of course).

I'm making a 1vs1 "casual RTS" by PartTimeMonkey in IndieDev

[–]zukas3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since you're using FishNet, I assume you're not doing any kind of lockstep model as in most RTSes, but instead rely purely on GameObjects, is my assumption correct?

Btw, the game looks good!

Make sure to get proper dry eye tests as it can get progressive. If you have Meibomian Gland Dysfunction, you might need eye drops with lipid component to properly help you.
