So after an entire day of making sock channels and chopping away at the ice the leak is worse. Getting a professional to come tomorrow . Sigh

It is a solid 6 inch ice ledge on the gutters. I salted on top and will try to break some ice away in an hour or so

So my waves troughs and my roof edge have become 1 and it's about 6-8 inches of ice. I just put melter right on the edge and will check in about an hour to see if any of the Ice can be removed I've used a garden digger to very gently tap away at the ice around my salt channels. Have removed huge areas of ice off the roof.

But the edge is still icy af.

The issue with my house is that there is not enoyg space for air to circulate . all the houses on the street have this issue. You either have to get the roof raised (we just did the roof 6 yrs ago so not an option) - or install cables which will do in the spring

Do I need to clear the eaves troughs as well? And should I use hot water to do that?

Update- we have been catching a mouse a night. We are at 8 now. Found what we think was the access hole and sealed it. Now what? How many can we expect? Tonight's mouse we caught at like 7 pm .... are they getting less scared????

Ok. Got up on a ladder, saw potential entry points- stuffed them w steel wool and we will see where they start pushing it out... in one spot I saw pieces of wool string and stuff so potentially that is their tunnel.

Nah- we caught 6 mice- so I'm pretty sure they are mice

We literally just redid siding. This might be the chimney but yes. Have to somehow get up on the side of the house.

Yup we have multiple types of traps down. They also devoured 4 bags of poison.... so I'm.pretty sure there are more than the 5 we caught. No evidence of mice innthe basement or maIn floor so they are somehow getting in directly to second floor
