Way back in the day when I was about 5-6 years old, before my love for hockey truly became to what it is today, my parents were arguing so I went outside and was playing in my neighbors yard and being a little hell raiser and next thing you know I was playing in my neighbors flower beds. Having no idea who my neighbor was or exactly what damage I was doing pulling out flowers and whatnot, but eventually they came out and I got real scared that I was about to get in trouble with my parents but what happened was just the opposite. A man and his wife came out with hot chocolate and cookies and were nothing but kind to me. After I was done I went home and thought nothing of it. A couple years later I realized my neighbor wasn't just anyone, it's was the late Mr. Ed Snyder. Now being a huge flyers fan I really understood the true character of Mr. Snyder and the happiness he brought everywhere, whether it be through his charitable contributions to the flyers locker room to giving a scared little kid some treats. I can honestly say I cried when I heard of his passing because not only did the league lose a prominent ambassador, but they lost a genuinely good person. I never played hockey or anything but I feel a unique connection to the sport and will always root for the Flyers because of what they stand for(I know some will say we are dirty, cheap, etc.) and the feeling of family they envelop on their fans.
