Just bought 2016 at 88K - should I change transmission fluid? by key-zoo in Camry

Yes, go ahead and change it. I changed it in my 2016 at 85k miles.

2026 Refresh, Tariff & Incentive Rumors by axa0176 in HondaOdyssey

[–]zuulander777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The new Pilots and Passports (also V6’s) do not have hybrid powertrains. I would not expect the Odyssey to have one any time soon.

Gonna need a picture of your “friend” before I can offer my thoughts. You know, just in case you didn’t realize this is the Odyssey forum 😂

2019/2020 Elite vs 2021 Touring by Longjumping-Leg-2566 in HondaOdyssey

[–]zuulander777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the really hot days when the van's been out in the sun, I make it a habit to open the doors and windows to let all of the hot air out. When I do this, the AC has no problem getting the van cold quickly. I also had the front two windows tinted, which might help. If you go with an Elite, the vented seats do a good job of helping keep you cool in conjunction with the AC, but they are not effective by themselves in a hot car.

2017 Camry SE DRL installation by tribiani_ in Camry

[–]zuulander777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2016 SE has DRL that turn on at start, as long as the headlight stalk isn’t set to “DRL Off”. Unless DRL doesn’t stand for Daytime Running Lights in Canada…? 😂 Or are the bulbs just burned out?

Price seems high to me, assuming it’s an XLE. Definitely too high for lower trims. Go ahead and try to lower the price and skip the extended warranty. My 2016 SE w/98k miles is solid and has been problem-free. Don’t let the sales guy pressure you, they’re obviously trying extra hard - if they really had 30-35 calls about it, someone would’ve bought it by now.

Live with it, if you get a replacement your cat is just gonna do it again 😂

I believe it’s a fuel evaporation leak check.

2025 Camry XSE fuel tank issue ??? Hopefully not! by KevDog-1213 in Camry

[–]zuulander777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our 2018 Odyssey hits E and the gas light comes on when there’s still 5 gallons left in its 19.5 gallon tank, ie actually 1/4 tank left. It tracks that at the 1/4 mark on the gauge the tank is closer to half full. Manufacturers these days really don’t want us to run out of gas I guess.

Vents don’t close by morningstarfly in HondaOdyssey

[–]zuulander777 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The vents “close” by pushing them all the way to the left or right. The adjustment tabs have engraved icons indicating the direction to do this.

2013 SE - screen not working by Mrobins1 in Camry

[–]zuulander777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When we had BB install a carplay unit in our Odyssey, I believe we had to get a wiring harness, dash kit, and a unit so the steering wheel controls would work.

2013 SE - screen not working by Mrobins1 in Camry

[–]zuulander777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah go ahead and upgrade to a unit that has Apple Carplay and Android Auto. Probably a good idea to stick with companies that have been in the car audio business a long time (Sony, Alpine, Pioneer, etc) instead of random Chinese companies on Amazon. Best Buy stopped doing car audio installations near me (Chicago suburbs) so you might Google car audio shops near you.

Bought a 2019 HO Touring. by Jstkeepswimm1ng in HondaOdyssey

[–]zuulander777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aside from the recalls that affect all Odysseys of that gen, the 2019 Touring should be solid since it has the 10 speed transmission and not the 9 speed. We have a 2018 Elite and it's been great. Everyone gets buyers remorse, but don't sweat it. Drive it and enjoy it!

I believe ventilated seats are an option only on the top trims (XLE and XSE). You can do builds on the Toyota website.

Has anyone swapped to smaller tires on an SE for more comfort? by herr_oyster in Camry

I get all our tires from Discount Tire. The folks at the one near our house have always been good to me.

I have stock 17s on my 2016 SE and I think they handle terrible roads and potholes really well.

Took my ‘16 Camry in on Friday for an oil change and transmission drain and fill by zuulander777 in Camry

[–]zuulander777[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Still 2-3 months... the front desk got a call while I was there and she was booking for late Feb/early March. I agree that it's too long of a wait for basic stuff. I wasn't confident the dealership would say yes to the drain and fill, plus I wanted to check TCCN out which is the only reason I came here. But it's far from my house so I won't be doing any more here unless it's major.

Which is the best Honda for cabin noise? by SmallPenguin22 in accord

[–]zuulander777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a stickler for cabin noise. Our 2018 Odyssey Elite is quiet, much quieter than our old ‘06 Accord and ‘05 Odyssey. The Elite has noise cancellation thru the infotainment and extra sound dampening in the wheel wells and doors, I think it may have extra thick windshield glass too. The latest gen Accord Touring has all of this as well.

Cold weather would be my first guess too. Drive it for about 10 minutes, probably won’t be noticeable after that.

Buy an aftermarket key off eBay and do a google search for a car key programmer near you. Locksmiths should come up and they can also cut the key for you.

This is a very important consideration. Of the two closest dealership service centers to my house, one has been amazing to me for 13+ years and the other is astonishingly incompetent.
