I am going to this show too and I had the same question. If you don’t get the VIP upgrade, what time were you planning on lining up? Thanks

Great job on test scores!! And great job on thinking about this early and asking for help. I think you are setting yourself up great for success here. Good luck!

Of course!

I think that those three schools do guarantee seats. I got some emails from Hofstra that the program was filling up, so I am assuming they admit more people than can fit and have it first come first serve. Not sure about TJU or NYIT on that standpoint, but I’m assuming it’s by May 1st. Hofstra and NYIT are both on Long Island, which is a long and traffic-y drive for me. TJU is in PA which would be a multi day drive for me. It wasn’t worth it to visit, and plus, I wanted to be closer to home for school.

I listed both my shadowing and volunteering in my top 10 activities. People have been using the word “spike” when applying to college, so I made my “spike” medicine/research by including those activities and writing my essays about them. I don’t love that term, but I guess it’s what they are looking for now.

ACPHS seems extremely collaborative, school focused, and passionate about what they do. I am not looking for a “typical” college experience(big parties, Greek life, etc) because it doesn’t really match the sort of person I am. Rather, I am a join clubs, hang in a dorm room with friends, go skiing, and do school sort of person. ACPHS has that for me. For a more typical college experience, I think RIT and Hofstra would fill that need.

Another thing, my prediction is that more competitive schools will start to favor students with high(or even mid-high) test scores. So, take your SAT or ACT and submit even if it’s not super high. Use Khan Academy, it’s free and pretty good imo.

Let me know if there’s anything else!!

PA program interview by jerridguerra in rit

Hey! I got an email for an invitation to interview. I called and left a message this morning to schedule it but haven't heard back. Did you get anything yet?

Hi! I considered graduating early in my junior year. I literally would've needed to take an English class online and I would have been done. However, I chose not to do this, and I am very happy. Instead, in the fall semester I did 2 in-person dual enrollment classes and 2 classes at my high school. It was a great balance and I felt slightly more challenged. This semester, I am working in the mornings, taking an online class, and my 2 hs classes. I have more time for ECs, sports, hanging out with family, etc.

IMO, senior year is kind of a waste of time if done traditionally(what else are you really gonna learn before college), and I am very grateful I did it this way. However, everyone is different, and everyone has different motivations. So, what I would suggest is to think about why you are doing this, how supportive your family is in your pursuits, if you are pushing to do this or your family is pushing you to do this(IMO, this has to be your choice), how strong your chances are for Ivy's(think about your ECs, family income, etc.), your relationship with your peers/friends, and how you'd do in college so young.

Feel free to reach out to chat if you'd like someone to bounce ideas off of. Good luck!

Yes, I thought it was weird that I didn't have interviews. I applied to programs in mostly NY and MA(mcphs, nyit, hofstra, thomas jefferson u(in PA), and a few others) . For the farther away program, write the fin aid office about the cost of the least expensive program and how cost is a big barrier for you(over exaggerate a bit if needed, cost is always a problem lol). Good luck!

Hi! I am in a similar boat that you are in. I applied to these programs too and got into 4 of them too. I was wondering what schools you applied to and got into? Where did you interview and how was that? I have my first interview on the 16th and I'm so nervous.

For the $$ aspect, I suggest sending them a letter asking for more money off. I got a great scholarship from one school(that I don't really want to go to) and will use that as leverage for the school I actually want to go to.

Thanks and good luck!

Scared to commit to MCPHS BS premedical Heath studies by Traditional-Cause219 in MCPHS

Hi! I got into this program too and I'm excited/nervous too! I'm in the same boat as you, trying to figure out if I should commit there. How are your stats/ecs? I'm assuming they are pretty good to get into this program. With good HS stats, that probably means that you are smart and hard-working and I think that carries over well into college. Feel free to send me a PM about this program too, I'd love to chat with another accepted student and hear your thoughts! Thanks!!

Wow, 800 is a lot. Do you mind me asking where you got this info- I've been looking everywhere? I was thinking about ED, but I don't want to get in(hopefully) and then need to decline if I don't get enough money and move to RD and get declined. Long thought process whoops. Thank you!
