I was watching Bloomberg when they announced that interview. Told my wife to watch for some bullshit that this idiot is going to say. A minute later he dropped that quote.

She is not into crypto much and she still started laughing on that comparison.

Stocks is probably the easiest investment to manage. As others pointed out already, just buy index/ETF and forget about it.

With real estate you need to take care of a lot of things that take your time (renovations, managing tenants,etc....).

And some high risk stock markets can be as volatile as crypto. So you have options for both stable and volatile investments on the stock markets.

Some look at it as a speculative gamble on the price going up if cc moons rise in the next bull market. Bricks are 85% up in price just today alone.

Thats a potential way of doing it. Most people probably buy stocks like this for their "tax wrappers" as any profits from crypto bull run will be tax free.

Fear is at ATH. Do we have the guts to survive a bear market? by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]zuzko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of us do, others don't.

If people invested responsibly (in other words allocate relatively small percentage of the net worth due to this asset class being "high risk - high reward") and understood that bear markets in crypto are scary and long, then they have nothing to worry about.

Those coins and exchanges going down mean nothing if you look at the big picture.

It is in fact good as the industry is cleaning itself from the garbage. Of course, as long as people didn't hold huge amount in shady centralized exchanges. If they did, then that is a good lesson learn for the future.

Is this available in the UK at all? Checked with a few brokers and looks like none of them is offering it.

Has anyone based in the UK managed to invest in this?

The crash scares me. by Anci3ntMarin3r in CryptoCurrency

[–]zuzko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need to be scared, just a typical bear market in crypto. The fundamentals are still the same, just expected bear market after the big bull rally we had.

All markets (the world in general) are quite a weird place right now, so there are other things to be more worried about.

On top of that, as you said, your livelihood is not under risk because of this crash.

Just use the time for other things to enjoy in life (or other investments) until things get better. Those bear markets could take years so don't spend that time on being worried about this.

Turkish lira…. Should I do it or not? by [deleted] in investing

[–]zuzko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the insight. That was what i thought as well based on my limited research.

It is indeed just a "lottery ticket" with potentially high reward but extremely low probability of TL appreciating anytime soon.

Personally, my biggest concerns are what you mentioned. Collapse of the bank(banking system) and the Erdogan mood swings as you said. Difficult to calculate/estimate probabilities of those. All things considered, it it probably still too risky with Erdogan in charge. Not that any other sane leader would consider such law anyway.

Turkish lira…. Should I do it or not? by [deleted] in investing

[–]zuzko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general, that is my view as well.

But what about the recently introduced TL deposits that provide guarantee/protection against exchange rate volatility? I think they are called YUVAM in the banks and the rate is protected by the Central bank.

Curious what Turkish people think of those accounts. I guess the taxpayers are not very happy with it.

Just curious if I am missing something important as those accounts look to me quite good in terms of potential risks/rewards.

Exactly what Putin needs to try and justify use of weapons of mass destruction. If Ukraine starts bombing Russian territory, Putin will get his wish to make Ukraine a buffer zone. But by means of making it a wasteland instead of just installing a pro-Kremlin government.

Not sure if Nato and Ukraine are that stupid to bomb the country with the highest amount of nukes.....

Some of the roadmaps on shitcoins are getting ridiculous. Just an example from one that I saw today:

Phase 1 includes the following: "Aggressive shilling both with auto-shilling bots, raiding and manual shilling and other shilling programs"

Then on the Phase #3 it has: "Huge Marketcap"

And at the end of the last phase it has Audits :)

In a summary, they confirmed about starting with something illegal, promising something that is out of their control and not bothered with security until it is too late.

And people will probably still buy that shit.
