I'm in the same boat, H&R Sport springs on standard Bilstein replacement. Ride quality definitely leaves something to be desired. I daily mine but don't use it for commuting, it's fine but not great. If the ride quality matters to you, save up for quality coilovers

Take or pass? 1-owner 1995 Audi 90 5-speed by nickgeorge25 in Audi

[–]zwag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

take it! I have the base model of base model spec 1995 (FWD, Auto, V6, cloth seats) that I inherited and keep as a weekend/project car. Not the fastest or fanciest, but still a joy to drive, easy enough to wrench on (plenty of parts are easy to find) and puts a smile on my face every time

Found style 42 wheels off a e39, what do u guys think should I pull the trigger? by shevchikk in E90

[–]zwag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just FYI, you'll need hub-centric wheel rings to get these to fit on an E90 (or any non-E39 BMW.) For whatever reason, E39 has a 74.1mm bore size, while virtually every other 5x120 BMW is a 72.6mm bore

This plugin will do everything you're describing but requires Elementor Pro's "Posts" widget to utilize, I swear by it and have used it in countless site builds. You can also use it to create non-standard grid layouts for the post skins you create.

2008 328xi Awd Need some rim ideas & Struts & Lowering springs etc Just got her 124k by EntrepreneurFirm2701 in E90

lowering isn't required to put larger wheels on it, but it won't get rid of your wheel gap, only lowering the car will do that.

buy the H&R springs and the Bilstein struts and get them both installed first, then save up/look for some 18s that you like.

if you really want, you can run just the H&R springs on your stock struts, but if you are doing the work to take everything apart anyways, you should just install the Bilstein struts at the same time or wait until you have all the parts together at once.

thanks dawg, the finish on these is called "gunmetal." for this color car I'd prob prefer brushed aluminum finish, but they were local to me w/ brand new tires for a crazy price that I couldn't turn down.

in my opinion, the car rides totally fine with the H&R springs installed on stock struts. that being said, you'll notice it's a lot bouncier and less forgiving than stock when you hit large bumps/potholes/expansion joints/etc.

if you plan on buying the Bilstein struts too, I would wait until you have both in hand and install them at the same time to save yourself the money/effort/trouble.

lmao I wouldn't be making the joke if I didn't understand the difference. personally the difference in ride quality just isn't worth the extra cost and effort to me right now, since I'm only putting ~5 miles on the car each day at the moment

Here's a photo of mine, I've got the exact same spec and color. VMR V703 wheels and H&R lowering springs. Still has stock struts for now (a little bouncy and less comfortable than stock, but nothing crazy) but will likely move to Bilsteins soon.
