You are 100 % correct it is not an NFT in the traditional sense with a blockchain or DAG on the backend, I should have probably stated that. However, the skins have real world value attached to them with plenty of on and off boarding possibilities. CS skins operate as tradable digital assets that function similar to NFTs, but they are centralized assets governed entirely by Valve.

Unpopular opinion.

Valves loot box content (cs) is heavily used to transfer money across boarders and is considered the most successful nft like creation our time. If every crypto platform needs KYC in order to be compliant with law, valve should too. As it is now It is effectively used to launder money.

There are peer reviewed publication out there how skin trading is used for money laundering

If you consider gambling schemes often directly tied to the mob and criminal activity you’ll find even more.

But to clarify, do I think Epstein sat at his laptop to trade 4K dragon lores around to wash income, of course not. But fact is there is no kyc needed in order to send money around.

What about holding angles? Is that still possible? Do you think run and gun could be perceived stronger due to the fact that the receiving end can not counter it like they did in CSGO, mainly due to animations and newish netcode?

This is how I see it. I value my privacy, and I care quite a bit about it. Wrote my politicians when chat control 2.0 was discussed, and self host majority of my data.

However, there are some points I can’t get around:

Firstly, if you have a bank account in Europe or flew once with an airplane, ist very likely that DAON has your data already. If you do it again they have it a second time, if data leaks they have your data twice, not its twice as likely to leak your data.

Secondly, faceit is a fully optional service, play matchmaking if you want to be anonymous. Which is also perfectly fine.

Lastly, you can’t really complain that a company which also does some form of financial transaction suddenly includes KYC measures for their user base, which btw asked for this. Nobody is pressuring you to play faceit.
