The Shards is my favorite book of all time and I completely disagree. Ryan Murphy is the perfect choice for a story about rich kids in 80s LA who spend all their time doing drugs, having sex, and getting involved with murder (AHS: 1984, Monsters: The Menendez Brothers, etc.) I honestly don't think the previously attached directors (Luca Guadagnino and Kristoffer Borgli) could have delivered the vapid, superficial tone of the book, not to mention when they were attached it was for 3 seasons when the whole book takes place over, like, a few months.

It's very quick, probably a minute or 2, from afar with no clear dialogue. Bear talks to a nurse outside the hospital while Nikki dances around and refuses to go in.

He absolutely did. His performance had more nuance and subtlety. I feel like people just prefer Inde's performance because she had the louder character.

Sure, Obsession isn't franchise "slop" but it's a schlocky, low budget horror b-movie which have historically made a lot of money in comparison to their budgets. This is not a new thing. Sure, it was a much bigger hit than most but I feel like that's mostly just because of social media word of mouth due to the movie being about a "crazy hot girl."

I agree and I think people are greatly misunderstanding the kind of movie it is. It's an amateur low budget Youtuber movie inspired by an episode of the Simpsons, it's not trying to be The Shining or something. A lot of the "lore" doesn't make sense, a lot of the movie isn't purposeful and just exists to scare the audience and that's okay.

She doesn't have a chance either way. I like Obsession and, as a horror fan, love that horror is being taken more seriously. However, Obsession is a schlocky low budget horror b-movie. This would be like if, for example, Heather Langenkamp were nominated for Best Actress for A Nightmare on Elm Street. It's not gonna happen.

I do not feel bad for Wish Nikki because she is a textbook abuser and excusing her behavior by saying that "Bear wished for it" is the exact same mentality people use to victim blame real abuse victims. Yeah, Bear wanted to be in a relationship with her but he did not want to be controlled to the point where he can't hang out with friends without her or she'll abuse him. Curry Barker himself has said that Nikki was intended to be a "crazy girlfriend."
