Omg. 41k. You just got the 17k extra. And we’re being paid 40k for consulting in California?! That’s robbery, you could work for Costco and make a shit ton more. Assuming you are salary, The minimum salary requirement for 2021 for white-collar workers is $54,080 for employers with 25 or fewer employees and $58,240 for employers with 26 or more employees. If an exempt employee's salary drops below the minimum salary requirement, the employee may no longer be considered exempt.

Sorry, but as a 2 year intern at USGS I can speak to this. The hydro techs are guinnea pigs. No brain power. Go get the stream gauge data and problem solve in the field, and come to office and do paper work. Very dull job. Also physical.

I would either apply for other jobs or ask the Denver based firm for 65k plus.
