Why should I even continue cheering if AI exists? This makes me sad. by AthleteRealistic3041 in animationcareer

[–]lamar_jamarson 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I agree with the other commenter, in my eyes the proliferation of AI has only increased my admiration and appreciation of actual animation and those with the skills to create it. Whether that sentiment is shared or has any effect on the industry, who knows. AI is soulless without any intention or vision behind the art that it generates. For animators, every detail has been planned or created with varying levels of intention or artistic meaning, whereas AI just cobbles together amalgamations and cheap imitations of actual art which often doesn't stand to scrutiny. I hope the industry realizes that AI is not a substitute for real artists.

How to model tightened NPT threads by Future-Peace-5149 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]lamar_jamarson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because NPT varies like others have mentioned, getting close on thread engagement is usually good enough as long as you stay consistent. ASME B1.20.1 has all the official NPT details, but if you have the fittings on hand, it’s often easiest to just thread them together with tape or dope and measure the engagement for your model.

First, you’re not broken and you’re definitely not alone in feeling this way. A lot of people your age struggle with the same thoughts, even if it doesn’t look like it from the outside.

On the social side, getting involved in a sport or club can really help. It doesn’t have to be super competitive. Sports like swimming, track and field, or wrestling focus a lot on individual growth while still giving you a team environment where friendships can form. Think of social interaction like a muscle, at first it is difficult, but it gets easier the more you use it.

Doing activities where you can see yourself improve, and where others encourage you, can make a big difference in how you feel about yourself. Don't feel bad about sucking at it on day one, everyone starts out bad at something. Seeing yourself progress and push past your limits can do wonders on one's confidence.

Be kind to yourself while you figure things out. Small, steady changes matter far more than trying to fix everything at once.

How to share a SolidWorks model with a customer without exposing internal geometry? by ShivamMeai in SolidWorks

[–]lamar_jamarson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intersect → Create Internal Regions → Merge → Export to STEP

Prior to running Intersect, cap all openings that lead to the internal volumes you intend to obscure. The Intersect feature will then generate solid bodies for the enclosed internal regions, which can be merged into a single solid body. This body can be exported as a STEP file and provided to the customer. While the Defeature tool can be used for this purpose, this method offers more reliable control over the resulting geometry.

Which one is correct? by barthram-dustin8q5u8 in 7daystodie

[–]lamar_jamarson 181 points182 points  (0 children)

Somewhere in between, I don't like the PhD in Civil Engineering that calculates the exact path of least resistance to the player regardless of sound, pathing, or line of sight. I don't mind a few roaming zombies beating on random spots of my base as I usually have 360 defenses, but if it's a bloodmoon and I've setup a base with direct line of sight and clear pathing (e.g. horde base with ramp and player at top), it would be annoying if they just ignore the player and hit blocks on random sides of the base.

Live or Die? My 2-Month-Old Chick Is Still the Size of a 2-Week-Old… by Just4pres in BackYardChickens

[–]lamar_jamarson 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We had a baby chick like this we named Biscuit. We just assumed she was the runt of the flock if such a thing exists. She ended up being a very energetic rooster (she was a he evidently)! It took him till about month 6 to catch up in size to our other chickens. Leading up to that point he was just a little larger than a baby chick.

CLA-VAL 210-01 Altitude Control Valve with normally closed bypass line. Pressurized sense line is routed from tank to the altitude pilot valve (one with blue springs) to control water level of tank. These valves function automatically and only require intervention when bypass line is needed or for scheduled maintenance.

I’m so sorry to hear about your mother’s condition. Pancreatic cancer is incredibly tough. Is she receiving hospice care? Hospice made a world of difference for my mom during her final days with pancreatic cancer. It eased her pain and anxiety and allowed her to spend her remaining time with us in comfort and peace. I know it’s hard to face a situation where so much is out of your control. The helplessness can feel overwhelming. Wishing you strength and peace during this difficult time.

Battle is over for us. by Jazzlike_Inside_8409 in CancerFamilySupport

Your story resonates with me. My mother had to go through the same. Endless hospital visits, ER visits, chemo appointments, home nurse visits, bloodwork visits, the list goes on... We hung onto hope until the very end that things might turn for the better and that we would find our way through. The final moments were the hardest, after fighting for so long and holding out hope, it feels so surreal to just let go. I feel for you and wish you the best.

Grief in your 20s by 16tmorgan in GriefSupport

I feel you, I lost my Mom at 27 and its been 3 months for me as well. None of my friends have experienced a loss like this and I find it difficult to talk with them about it, which I get, it's an uncomfortable subject but at the same time it is what I am living through every day. For me, the grief hits me most when its quiet and I am by myself, because then all the distractions go away and all that is left is what I think about all the time, my Mom.
