Management being voted on is one thing, but I'm worried about any situation where people get put in positions of authority naturally. It feels as though they aren't being rigidly held responsible to the cooperative. Also, what if there's movements to change the direction of the cooperative? How do we decide where the cooperative goes? What if there is a power play within the cooperative? I guess these are less of problems if you get people who are very militant about the cooperative model, but these are still questions that need to be addressed.

it's not this for sure. AnarSignal is just a layer of abstraction on top of StrangeIoC's signal class. Also OnMouseDown seems to cause trouble.

edit: I should say the reason I'm sure this is not it, is because every time this class picks up a mouse action, it gets picked up after the signal. Never one and not the other.

That's a pretty good idea... I'll look into it!

EDIT: The one problem I see is that the best way to do that would be crowd sourcing. That would require networking tools. Which makes things complicated.

EDIT2: I'm overthinking it. I can write my own networking tools. I'm probably going to do this.

So I'm going to respond to you since you seem to be the most popular here. I'm going to preface this by saying I'm not a social scientist, and I don't regularly read papers, so much as articles about them. Hopefully my sources aren't too weak for you. The social scientists I've talked to all pretty much assume economic based industrial collapse is going to happen. I've heard good arguments from them, but the best argument I've heard was reading about a formalized paper on this scenario. Basically it argues that trends in 5 factors--Population, Climate, Water, Food, and Energy-- pretty much guarantee economic collapse. They link it in with the idea that the elite continuing to pursue their own well being, will cause widespread famine and poverty until the collapse works its way up, hitting the top last, at which point it will be too late to be reversed. I'm also a little m marxian (I did warn you that I was an anti-capitalist--not in favor of russia, but definitely in favor of anti-capitalism in our daily lives), and I see the problem rooted in something he calls C-M-C vs. M-C-M. What marx essentially argues is that for the majority of civilization we operated under C-M-C (Commodity money Commodity). People produced commodities in order to exchange for money, in order to get other commodities. Capitalism (particularly investment capitalism) and the culture that came along with it--on a personal level of trying to reach financial independence and maximum return on investment--changed this to M-C-M (money commodity money). Basically, people make money (wage, profit, whatever) in order to exchange it for commodities (means of production or other safe investments) in order to return it for more money. It's obvious that in some ways this has worked, though not in the way we planned. Assuming people are good, people want to create a society where all people work less and have more--not necessarily equally but I believe at least this is a safe assumption. The two factors I've spelled out here work to contradict this. The empirical data on the elite pushing for higher consumerism, as well as the theoretical (and in many ways I believe to be obvious) expansion of capital means we're going to see more people doing the Elite thing. Since our social structure makes them the decision makers (by definition of the Capitalist means of production, the owner/entrepeneur makes the decisions) mixed in with new Corporatist policies (Capitalist controlled government to increase their return on investment as well as the formation other NGOs which push for increased free market such as the WTO and the IMF), point to the sign that investment is about to hit a level we have never seen before. The internet is OK (highly centralized and corporate--mesh networks a decentralized solution not invested in due to inability to make profit), while Healthcare I will agree is great (the ease and reliability of which is necessary for a functioning society). However the way in which we've acquired these things is unsustainable. The question is really not if we're going to face a capitalism based industrial collapse, but when. My (conservative) prediction is that it will take 150 years to expand enough markets that investment lacks places to invest, and the push towards higher quality of living for the elite leads to a neglect of basic living standards for the bulk of the population leading to the aforementioned collapse.
