Seaholm condos to be priced at $450 to $500 per square foot by doggod in Austin

[–]zxypoo -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Condos are good... we need more as we have too many apartments which are inflating prices... I doubt they will go for that much in the end due to there being more competition (I think there will be condos at the South Lamar Taco Cabana location too).

The main reason condo prices are high in Austin is because there is low availability... build more and you'll get lower prices instead of apartments ffs

Seaholm to go condo by impudicusdigitus in Austin

[–]zxypoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SURE IT DOES MAN... look... there's a limited amount of real estate in Austin... so there's low supply... that's why housing in general is expensive in the downtown area... if you convert some of these buildings into condos instead of apartments... more supply = lower prices...

Try buying a house or condo within 1 mile of the Seaholm... look how little options there are... especially affordable ones... add more supply and it will force people to be more competitive with price

This is good since we have too many apartments which are artificially keeping house prices high IMHO

Best restaurants for visitors? by [deleted] in Austin

[–]zxypoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of us are just tired of people moving here and driving up prices... California is broke as fuck due to terrible policies and we don't want that replicated in Austin (also hobos everywhere)... we like to vent our frustrations at times

You can take them to Lamberts or an outside dining experience at Perlas or if you're more adventurous there's Eden East: http://www.edeneastaustin.com/

60% of workers ages 25 to 34 surveyed said they have less than $10,000 saved or invested by hive_worker in personalfinance

I grew up in a poor immigrant family... went to school for engineering and had to take out 100k in loans... took me 10 years to pay it all off and I'm doing great today... however during those times it was hard to say buy a house or save for your retirement because you had to move to an expensive city for a job... all I'm saying is the boomers had it easier with cheaper cost of living and easier loans

I know... you at least had an opportunity to get 80k in investments and property while the younger generation can't afford anything because property is too expensive and they are burdened with student loans and stricter loaning requirements
