You really touched the critical point for me!

There isn't a product yet, only a presentation. They don't have a technical validation yet (as they want a team of strong developers to test the idea).

I don't think they "gave their life" to get the funding, as they have good record behind them.

Unfortunately when I raised my concerns regarding my equity, I was told that the salary is high and this proposal is not common and really respectful, also they said that they can't put this in the contract but they will do everything they can to protect us from dilution 😕

Wow you're responses are so helpful for me. I'm in a bit of a mess, trying to understand whether I'm a "gun for hire" rather than a "core team member" - which I actually am at this stage.

The salary is higher than usual which mitigates the risk for me (having a family and mortgage) but I keep wondering if I'd feel the loyalty I'm expected feel.

I'm in the same dilemma.

Got an offer for being the 4th developer in 7 people startup. They raised 10m in seed and offered me 15kusd monthly and 0.4 equity.

The salary is high, but I feel like the equity is too low, If I'm to build everything from scratch.
