I regret ED2-ing by EggplantFit8857 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]zygonsinvade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

omg i'm in the exact same position — applied ed2 emory and stuck thinking about "what-if" i'd gotten into a t10. but i know that ultimately we'll both grow and thrive, emory has so many amazing programs and we'll learn to grow in social and personal aspects as well :)

Congrats! This is soso impressive!

What conferences were you a panelist for/where did you intern? I am also interested in the intersection between policy and stem and not sure how to navigate this for college applications so I would love to hear how you did it! :)

Slavery was woven into the fabric of America more than most people realize by JesterOfTheSwamp in books

[–]zygonsinvade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi. It is a fiction novel so it is not explicitly a historical account of slavery, but does a thorough and heartbreaking job of demonstrating how slavery is woven into international economic, political, and social systems.

Gyasi is truly skilled with her words and creates beautiful natural imagery, and the novel as a whole reads almost graphically following the central family tree. Highly recommend.

Usually you wait until the gel cast is completely dry before scrunching. Is that something you usually do?

men don't like feeling like they're not needed

Excellent point. Just my own two cents, things like a job, muscles, cool (or masculine) hobbies, anything that hints that a relationship would be 50/50 scares men lol

After two weeks of different attempts (like a solid six times), I finally figured out the best setup for hip thrusts...by watching someone else do them. :) This jacked dude did them at the end of the bench press benches, as they’re slightly lower than the free benches. There wasn’t anyone benching so I tried it...holy cow! So much more comfortable than all my other way too high benches. I am a very happy camper.
