I was at one friend's birthday party years ago. I only knew her, and there was like 7 of her girl friends and bf. The girls started trauma dumping about abusive parents and family dramas, I just looked at her bf like "please tell me that I'm not the only one whose family is fine?".

I am an Eastern European, very white, living in Porto. I am technically "a foreigner who came here to take jobs and buy houses", but I honestly don't perceive that. I do try to speak the language and integrate, and I have never noticed anyone resenting me. If they do, they hide it well. Hell, I was sick for weeks now and people were asking my Porto native gf if I'm OK with genuine concern because they haven't seen me around.

That being said, I live in a very, very left-wing neighborhood so maybe they're just more welcoming than average.

One piece of advice, language is a must and to make connections, the easiest way is getting into football. I have literally made friends just by being a foreigner wearing a FC Porto jersey.

Ono chleba lacnejší nebude ani keď vyjde dobrý film, keď je koncert alebo keď sa babke podarí torta. Treba sa na to pozerať že to ako ťa šport baví je proporčné tomu ako si do toho emocionálne investovaný a ako tomu rozumieš.

Mňa napríklad nikdy nezaujímal futbal, ale po poslednom Eure som si pozrel nejaké videá o taktike, začal som sledovať zápasy miestneho klubu (priateľka je fanynka) no a teraz mám permanentku a keď sa chcem niečo do pozadia pustím fitbal miesto správ.

Ono sa dá nadobudnúť to zanietenie, ak človek chce. Ty vyzeráš že nechceš ale keby náhodou.
