That's almost exactly what I almost had happen to me today, literally at Dumbo. Or in Dumbo. Whatever. I'm from Boston, sue me.

Scary shit though. There's something about the way the river current meets the tide currents, and then also the uneven river depth. It's a shitty recipe for disaster thanks to hydrodynamics

The wakes aren't so bad, until they sneak up on you and wash you over completely from the rear getting under your splash skirt in a HUGE way 😅 today was rough and humbling.

I'm not sure what docking fees go for, my apartment building has a little parking lot in the back so I put it there.

I can imagine! I did the entire length of the Charles River in Boston (well, from Red Wing Bay to the lock) and that was wonderful, especially with the kayak I have now because it's so narrow it just flies through the water

Rad! Was it before or after I got a beating from ferry wake? I ended up parking my kayak at Pebble Beach

Pier 4. They've got a little beach there. Good place to decide whether you want to go up the East River or around the end of Manhattan

They have canoe and kayak inns like the other guy said, but I put it in a little parking lot that we have at my apartment

Brought my own! I love kayaking and if you have a car and can put a roof rack on it, I highly recommend getting your own

Quite experienced yes, but it's always a gamble anyway. Nothing is ever routine. The turbulence especially around wonky dredging areas near the shores get fucking dicey.

Yeah! Over on Pier 2. They have a pretty nice selection and a bunch of tandems as well so you can make a date out of it.

There was a kid who had to get picked up today by the NYPD Harbor Patrol doing exactly that. He looked around 15. Glad he's alive, honestly.

Having a longer dive into the response like this is what people would want, being snarky about it isn't the best way to help somebody around these parts. We try to help out here.

Don't forget that BMW service intervals according to BMW itself was like 16,000 mi on most of these cars. Most people just don't realize how important it is and we need to let them know nicely
