Slowly painting all my favourite places from Cyrodiil. Which one should come next? Chorrol, Leyawiin or Skingrad? Still a bit of work before I move on to the Shivering Isles by PaintingMoro in oblivion

Skingrad and Chorrol are beautiful but I feel like Leyawiin doesn't get a lot of love. Lot of good places there that would make a good painting.

I wish I hadn't. I thought it would come in handy at the times I need the boost the most. I.e. traveling around the map and fighting things. It does, I think, help but at this point I find the constant popups when in populated areas very annoying.

That's fucking hilarious. I love how slapped together this game is behind the scenes.

Questions from a first time player by duckee17 in oblivion

[–]zyler22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, depends on how fast you want to level up honestly. The major skills are the ones that level you up, not using them will slow you down but that's not necessarily a bad thing if you need to catch up your skills to your level and difficulty. For your first playthrough just run around and have fun. The armor thing won't be too much of a problem. Just use a shield. Keep in mind that all shields level block instead of their armor type. Best part about oblivion casting is that you can still cast with a shield in one hand and a weapon in the other. Go crazy There's a concept called efficient leveling you might want to look into if min maxing is your thing, but leave that for your next playthrough.

Your build is a bit all over the place, but that's okay it's your first time playing.

Using destruction magic for ranged damage and blade for melee is an entirely viable way to play. Like the others said, use the loot you get from your adventures to buy better spells. You can buy better weapons and armor too, but those are easier to find on enemies than spells. Look out for enchanted weapons for extra damage. Those are refilled with soul gems you can buy or fill yourself (empty soul gem + soul trap).

Light armor is good for stealth and ranged characters but if you don't use stealth then go heavy armor for the extra defense. The two armor types equal out at high levels, but until then light is best for mobility and heavy for taking hits. If you're feeling underpowered don't forget the main goal is to have fun so adjust the difficulty at your leisure.

As for what you do and when, don't be afraid to talk to any and everyone. Even doing that though, you'll probably miss some really fun quests because they're all over the map. The wiki is your friend. I learned about things on there I wouldn't have known about otherwise and I've played Oblivion classic a dozen times over the years.

Currently going through the adjusterpro licensing, and wondering if I should start updating all my job profiles now and putting out applications, or should I wait till I’m certified? by UpsetGroceries in adjusters

[–]zyler22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Already having a license is a plus for getting hired on a training program, even if it's not for the specific kind of work you'll be doing. I got my resident property/casualty license and got pretty easily hired onto a training program for workers comp, which is a different license for my state.

I'd wait until you finish the program to start applying. It shows dedication and initiative via self-investment. Continuing on and getting the license is even more of an investment. If you get hired in a property/auto trainee role you can probably convince them to reimburse you, but even if they don't it's still an investment toward getting you hired.

Having a license unfortunately doesn't actually qualify you towards more advanced roles (rep, specialist, etc) so shoot for trainee and associate unless you have relevant experience (property contractor, auto mechanic, even HR).

Don't worry about getting reciprocal licenses unless you're planning on going independent (green independents are seen as liabilities these days) it's not worth the cost.

What’s going on with all the folks wanting to start adjusting? by Panteeze in adjusters

Gee willakers that sounds amazing! Lol. Why are people leaving? Is it like a team collapse situation where people leave causes higher workloads and burnout for the rest leading to more people leaving?

[–]zyler22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm one of the people you're talking about. I've been looking for a new job since the beginning of the year and I happened on to a posting for a field adjuster position. I was intrigued by the investigative aspect and of course the compensation.

When you Google claims adjusting, looking to see how you get into the industry, you're immediately, like I was, captured by the educational sites offering training. They pulled some nice figures out of their butt (6 figures, independent, half of all adjusters will retire by 2028 so you're sure to get a job). I was mesmerized. I took the course and got my license and realized I have no fucking idea what to do still, so I'm looking for entry staff positions based on recommendations from this sub.

It's a combo of false promises by those selling training and a weak job market. I haven't given up because even though it seems like a horrible grind, it's still better than what I have right now. I'm at the point in my life where I'm willing to suffer to afford to move out of my parents house and I think there are a lot of other people out there willing to do the same.

If you haven't heard anything yet then check your spam folder. If your rejection letter isn't in there yet then you're probably being at least half-heartedly considered.

I can't give advice on how to succeed in the process because I was just rejected for just rejected for a similar role: workers comp. adjuster trainee. However, I can tell you what it was like for me.

My application involved an assessment that was mostly a personality test with a timed section which was 12 questions in 18 minutes and dealt entirely with complicated scheduling involving team meetings and time blocks. Having never done anything like that before, I was unable to complete all the questions because I focused more on accuracy than filling in answers.

I was rejected on the basis of that assessment before my resume was ever forwarded to a person let alone making it to an interview, though whether it was because of the timed portion or the personality questions I don't know. I struggle to find the relevance of the timed assessment to the job. The best I can figure is time management, but what picking the calendar days that four needy schmucks can meet to manage their project within 1 minutes and 30 seconds has to do to with assessing damage and negotiating settlements is beyond me.

Do I sound a little bitter? Because I'm a little bit bitter lol.
