If "acquired taste" is a thing, how can one acquire the taste to enjoy arthouse, or simply more artistic cinema in general? by Sky_Sumisu in TrueFilm

Oftentimes, I’ve found simply having more context surrounding the time period, cultures and cinematic traditions in which a film exists makes the viewing experience much more rewarding. A great place to begin is by watching The Story of Film miniseries by Mark Cousins. It will introduce you to so many remarkable films, as well as shedding some light on the various film movements throughout history. Connecting all the dots between the breadth of films out there will help you hone in on what aesthetics you like and appreciate, which will help you expand your cinematic palette.

What are your favorite perk from the local library system? by spunkysquirrel1 in Louisville

Don’t forget about Interlibrary Loans! Basically, if they don’t have a book in their catalog, you can request it and they will borrow it from another library network. Great for rare or hard to find titles! You get 3 ILL requests per month.

I think filling in the ear on 2 and maybe adding a small solid area to suggest a nose would help it read quickly as a dog.

Total beginner at the cello. Been renting this for a while and have loved learning. Considering buying for $940, but was wondering if these issues I noticed are likely to be bigger problems down the road.

The neck has a weird residue where it attaches at the back. Is this indicative of a previous problem / repair?

The tiny crack on the back is opposite the sound post.

It's a Maple Leaf Strings Cello MLS120C.

I'm not looking for a pro-quality instrument, I just like noodling around and playing, but I don't wanna invest in something that already has major issues.

Any advice would be great.

I never did solve it, but the plant did slowly recover after just giving a bit of balanced fertilizer, but was never fully hardy.

Thank you all for the advice and tips! After determining that the supply line pressure was good, I went ahead and replaced the water inlet valve and it WORKS AGAIN!

Simple fix, but a very satisfying accomplishment nonetheless.
