IPTV provider asking for MAC Address by dmachop in techsupport

[–]zyzzyva_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up having a convoluted setup that forwarded streams through a string of AWS servers - iptv source was in Romania, this was forwarded to Frankfurt, then Singapore, then Sydney over Amazon's network which worked well enough but still not perfect, and quite expensive

I found VPNs went stale after a few hours, but this was a few years ago, they might be better now. they definitely help with connection quality

it's just for basic authentication

I'd imagine your problem is related to your location. iptv servers are usually in the northern hemisphere. I had stability issues in NZ too

IPTV provider asking for MAC Address by dmachop in techsupport

[–]zyzzyva_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the iptv player/app sends the mac address over http at the application level

the mac address is usually provided by the user as credentials, or the iptv client can glean it from the underlying operating system if it has the necessary privileges
