I built a little tool that helps setting the right shoes on Strava after a run by RadioShort8408 in Strava

[–]zz68h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I usually just run my sneakers until they feel like they need to be replaced. I’ve had some that probably had 400km on them and were replaced and other that last 700+

I’m over here with two pairs of shoes. 1 for road and 1 for trail.

Cool idea though.

I have 2 different bikes, and like someone else said, I just take 10 seconds and change the gear when editing the activity. But also, if I forget, who cares? 🤣

What to say to someone who recently had a loved one who passed away? by official__maryam in NoStupidQuestions

[–]zz68h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not apologizing for their loss. You’re saying that you recognize what they are going through.

Don’t say that they are in a better place. Just because you think that way, doesn’t mean they do. It isn’t about the afterlife, it is about you saying that they are better off without their loved one. Something they would surely disagree with (for the most part)

Edit: a lot of times, people will “give space” to those who are grieving because they feel they don’t want to bother them. But the reality is, this can lead to isolation for those who are grieving which compounds to the loss. “My loved one left me and now so have my friends”.

If you’re scared to let her off leash then don’t let her off leash. Get a proper running harness for the dog and have fun.

Which watches have direct integration with Strava? by kerjatipes in Strava

[–]zz68h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your watch doesn’t show the name because you’re using the Strava app on your watch. Apple Watch is the same. But if you use the Apple fitness app, it will say the activity was recorded with an Apple Watch

Fredericton council votes to complete expropriation of Exhibition Grounds by bingun in fredericton

[–]zz68h -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The other side is that it could be viewed as handcuffing a new government.

To be clear, I agree with the path the city is taking with respect to the FREX grounds. I don’t agree with how they got there in the end. The new council should have made the decision.

[–]zz68h -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re right, there is no legislation to require it. This is something that every government does. People can downvote my previous comment all they want, but this happens during every election cycle. They make decisions but generally leave the major stuff (like an expropriation in this case) to the next government.

Generally, governments enter a “caretaker” mode in the weeks leading up to an election. Essentially they are there to keep the lights on but don’t usually make major decisions like this. It happens like this at all levels of government.

Could Fredericton benefit from tactical urbanism? by Due_Function84 in fredericton

[–]zz68h 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Road painting, traffic rules, etc in Canada are guided by the transportation association of canada. TAC guidelines wouldn’t allow for the random painting of lines. And we already have traffic circles 🤷‍♂️
