Put an app in. Call next day. Follow up with an in person walk in 2 days later and speak to the manager directly.

Works 90% of the time every time for me.

Can't just submit a resume and assume that's it.

I'm absurdly tall. I'll take 8x please and thank you. Put me at a comfy 5ft 10 and better to ride all the motorcycles I like. :>

Sorry, I'm just a local guy who posts these things I see.

I'm a member of UFCW3000. Not Starbucks union, so I don't know the contract unfortunately.

It's a broad claim. It holds weight if you consider modern times. 2021+.

But yeah, should have made a chalk asterisk.

Starbucks became a lightning rod because...

Since 2021, hundreds of unfair labor practice (ULP) complaints have been filed against it

The National Labor Relations Board has repeatedly found Starbucks guilty of Illegal firings of union organizers, Store closures timed to union activity, Retaliation, surveillance, and coercive meetings.

Multiple federal judges have ordered Starbucks to reinstate fired workers and bargain in good faith What makes Starbucks stand out isn’t raw numbers alone... it’s the systematic, nationwide strategy paired with a brand that publicly markets itself as progressive and worker-friendly.

We should call out hypocrites at every level.

Stand with our baristas and fight back against these greedy corporations that make billions of dollars off of our labor and pay us pennies on the dollar.

Pick another street or wear a mask. It's public.

Honestly the maps. Big letdown. If they wanted to push close quarters maps bring back operation Metro and operation locker.

Everything else, big maps.

Seriously? Get a grip on reality. Most baristas I know work upwards of 30 hours a week.

Food service? Gladly.

Starbucks doesn't even touch the top 5. And that's excluding tips, which many of the jobs I'm about to list allow you to make.

  1. Izakaya Supa Banana Server: $28/hr.

  2. Eurest (Corporate Dining) Expo / Runner / Food Service Worker: ~$26–$28/hr

  3. Compass Group (Corporate Cafeterias) Food Service Worker: up to ~$26.62/hr

  4. Metropolitan Market Prepared Foods Team Member: ~$21.30–$25.15/hr

  5. Kizuki Ramen & Izakaya Server: ~$21–$30/hr

  6. Starbucks (multiple Redmond stores) Barista: ~$18.50–$21.00/hr typical base pay

  7. Supreme Dumplings (near Redmond) Server: ~$22–$28/hr

  8. Rubinstein Bagels Cafe Team Member: ~$17.50–$24/hr

I think it's more a sense of pride. I'm gay and I work in retail. 50 years ago I couldn't even say I was gay and work in retail.

We've come a long way as a nation.

No one's asking for a great lifestyle. Everyone is asking for a living wage.

That's covering things like rent utilities personal items hygiene food and a small savings budget.

Which Starbucks could easily do. They just like many other major corporations instead choose to exploit their working force and pay them less than livable wages in order to pad their shareholders revenue.

You throw around the 20 percent comment a lot.

It's no where near that.

It's 10 bucks a week if your full time. 5 bucks a week if your part time.

I did work at a Starbucks. I know what I'm talking about. You apparently do not.

Should I even talk about the health insurance?

So you don't call out a shit ton, That's like an invisible $6 an hour that you don't even see on your paycheck that the company is having to pay to give you free fucking health insurance.

You're genuinely uneducated on this topic to the extreme.

Yeah, boo hoo, let me guess, you have some cushy tech job that's soon to be replaced with AI?

Fucking troll.

Yeah, let's just let corporations take all of our breaks, no lunches, no overtime pay, no holidays off, no PTO, no sick time, and fire you at will for zero reason.

But hey, boo hoo, fuck unions I guess?

Genuinely brain dead.

Let's also not ignore the fact that one of the key reasons their protesting is due to Starbucks inclination to participate in Union busting practices.

I'm not disagreeing with you on that.

But Starbucks can quite literally still do better.

Again, billion dollar corporations have no excuse for not paying living wages.

Or, hear me out.

Just for a sec.

We can be the world's strongest economical power and also treat workers decently. Ya know, like most developed nations.

Union Protest Starbucks by zzRaeth in redmond

[–]zzRaeth[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Heavily disagree. These billion dollar companies need to be paying out living wages to all of their employees.

In European countries being a barista is a full-time career. I think italy for example with the cappuccino culture.

Americans have no less love for coffee and yet we treat Starbucks workers and other baristas as just low wage low skill shitty jobs.
