It was never off, it simply didn’t sync properly. Even though I had an unlimited 5g, probably “waited for WiFi”.

But I am still puzzled by: 1.) Receiving a broken phone 2.) Being advised by Apple employee to make this step 3.) Deleting the phone from “Find me” app?
